Waiting on exhausts [Updated w/ comparison video]

Waiting on my Tanabe Axle-back exhaust to come in. UPS can't be any slower right now XD

Will post video clips of comparisons

Yeah, I'd love to see and hear the comparison. Most vids on the tanabe have multiple mods to the intake and exhaust. Just purchased a new ipl and would like to make the exhaust a little more noticeable. Looking forward to it!

Yeah! Exactly why I want to make a video comparison
It's my first mod. Hopefully I can get it done today before the intakes go on Saturday so it's comparable.
Already shot my "stock" clips earlier. Now still waiting

My car isn't IPL though. Isn't the IPL exhaust different, as well? If so, sorry that it won't be as accurate haha

Exhaust came in!!!
Installed it.
The bolts&nuts are a PITA to take off holy.... my factory bolts are stuck to the pipes permanently so only replaced the nuts w/ new ones that came in the box.

Sound is AMAZING. It's supposed to settle down in a couple days but I'm fine with it haha. Definitely sound modded but not obnoxiously loud until you step on it past 3200RPMs :P

I'll try to shoot my AFTER videos tomorrow. Trying to figure out a time for roof wrap appointment.

Intake on Saturday

Nope. Fully stock aside from the Axle-back.
Thanks!
The stock seems louder but in reality it's not haha. It's just more "piercing" IMO. The stock seemed to let off past 4000 for me and then it feels like more engine noise than exhaust under load (inside the car). The Tanabe follows through the whole rev-band with the full rolling sound so it feels more balanced.

Agreed, the Tanabe sounds stock, just deeper and a little louder. I love mine and it does carry throughout the entire RPM range. It has changed its sound very slightly now that its been on over 5000 miles and has broken in. Love it even more now that it has gotten a little deeper.

Wow...Great video! That's a great sounding exhaust. I'd say it'll sound nice with the ipl dual exhaust. I'm kinda leaning towards this setup. The other thing I have in mind is HFC's with the stock setup....but I really like the sound of this! Any cabin drone? Thanks for the hard work!

Tanabe is a great Mod, though remember the IPL is a true dual pipe vs the S package is 2 into 1 the sound is much louder... though I took mine off and sitting in the Garage lol I went to a MXP... Polished up my Tanabe's and waiting to sell these things off... best first mod I did next to my Gen 3... Tanabe's are light too! Easy to keep clean yet polish... congrats OP you'll enjoy more sound after a few weeks of driving... it will change more after a few days... few weeks gets even better...

Yeah I don't like when the stock note turns over in engine noise. Makes me feel like the engine is straining. I really like the Tanabe sound and would buy but I want to get rid of that ugly y pipe that hangs low I think...right before the muffler. Mine looks crappy.

Take it to a Muffler shop and Strait pipe out the Y pipe... seen some do that ... I had to have a shop bend slughtly the mxp to not be so low... was $50 and worked...no issues

I'm not 100% sure if I understand what exactly "cabin drone" may sound like, but yes (what I think it is haha) to an extent. It sounds good, though. AND you can control it. I found that when cruising w/ the pedal pressed to a neutral position holding the throttle constant (not accelerate, not decelerate), the Tanabe silents up :O like real quiet cruising noise. Once you step on it or let off, the sound comes back and burbles up or down for the driver and passengers to hear So I think it's the perfect exhaust for a car of this class and category because it can be refined when you want it to be.

I just got Gen 3 today Still trying to distinguish the noise vs the exhaust. I think I started to hear the suction noise a couple hours after beyond 3000RPMs.
But yeah the Tanabe's are awesome and are just what I wanted out of an exhaust mod for the G.

YES! Exactly! When I was still new to the car, I told my friend "I'm not sure if the car has all the power it claims to..." but mainly because I was afraid to even push it past 4500RPMs seeing how it sounds like it's straining (like revving a regular car with all engine noise and barely exhaust noise). The Tanabe takes care of that problem once and for all by being present throughout the entire band The reassuring burbles and buzz under your right foot lets you know it's got your back and that all that power is there, ready to go
About the y-pipe, I havent looked into alternatives but now I'm interested. I'll be lowering my car within a week (nothing crazy) and will be concerned about potentially scraping D: Higher undercarriage components may help avoid that hmmm..
