Gas Smell and Low Mileage
Gas Smell and Low Mileage
I have 08 g37s with around 59,000 miles. I smell Gas inside the car and I've been getting a really low mileage which could be the cause. Now I get around 210 miles in a full tank, before it use to be around 300. The smell is worst especially when i turn the heat on. Recently my car went in the limp mode which wouldn't go past 2.5k rpm along came on the engine light. They replaced some solenoid sensor which was all covered under power-train warranty by the dealer. I asked them about the gas smell but they said, it should go away with the sensor replaced. They checked there was no leakage or anything. If anyone know anything about this please help me out. I can't afford the gas its taking and the smell is getting worst. A quick note, i have r2c air intake on it.

see if your air filters are the reason for bad gas millage. that happened to me. Also this has been happening to my moms car for over a year. Her gas millage hasn't decreased. But to stop the smell, she just flicks that switch that doesn't allow outside air to come through the vents and it stopped the smell. You can use that as a temp fix
Any updates on this one? Don't our cars have an issue with a leaky injector sometimes?
My old firebird had a bad charcoal cannister, but you could only smell gas sometimes outside the car, and it still got excellent gas mileage. I'd be slapping the panic button if I could smell fuel coming in with the heated air.
