Tint...

Well, I got nailed with a citation for the tint - had to take it off and I swear I hate the car now. It looks terrible without the tint. Pretty upset about it, but oh well I suppose.

I'll definitely be getting it tinted in the next few weeks. Not as dark this time, but still 30%. It was 15% before.

PA has THE WORST tint law in the US. It's the most absurd law I've ever read...

30% tint is pretty reasonable. Anything darker, and most people will have difficulty seeing pedestrians and curbs at night through side windows. Most states have laws for about 30%- and I think that is fine. On top of everything else, law enforcement likes to be able to see what's going on in your car too. If your tint is limo dark, then that makes them nervous.

I have 5% and live in florida. Cops dont bother unless you get pulled over. I got a ticket for a red light infraction 6 years ago and the cop gave me a tint ticket also. I told the officer that Ive been driving like this for 2 years passing by city, county and state and never had a problem until she showed up (city) and issued me the citation. Every time I drive by I tend to roll my windows half way and if they stop me for that than I have my credentials for insurance

my friend got pulled over for speeding in his Lexus IS...the cop gave him a ticket for speed, tint and a cover that was on his license plate. The cover he bought from autozone, the cop said u can't have it on. Anyways..when he goes to court, the judge asks did you remove the tint? He says yea. Do you have pictures? he says no so she still dismises the tint ticket. ahahah to this date he still has that tint and its been almost a year. Legal tint % is 25 in texas. he had 20% but overtime it gets more darker because of the sun.

My car has dark tint. The dealer who sold it used said it wouldn't pass and they would take it off if I asked. I like the look. If I get stopped at night I will definitely turn on the inside lights before the LEO approaches the car. I have a ccw and that will show when the LEO runs the tag so I have to be careful I don't cause any extra concern.

See, I have a medical exemption for tint. But I've come to find out that in PA, even with the medical exemption, you can't have "shaded" tint. It's absolute bull****. I don't need the tint for the UV rays, I need it for the brightness.

And the only tint you can have on your car in PA is no less than 72% - which at that point, you might as well put seran-wrap on your car...

just go get it tinted again.. it's only $200 and if you now 'hate the car' as you say then you're hating a $40k car for something that's only $200. sure it's a pain in the *** to risk it and potentially have to go through all this again. but i've been living in PA for 4 years and i've never had an issue maybe you just got unlucky.

I will be in a few weeks. I never had an issue in my TL Type-S - granted that was 30% and had a white interior...I'll get it done in a few weeks at 30% and hope for the best. A family friend is a recently retired LEO and he said now that you have the paperwork, most guys will just let you carry on with your day if you get stopped. He said this guy is one of those guys who shouldn't be a cop because he lives by the exact law and doesn't' understand daily life.

Oh man I feel your pain. I love in New York and they stand around in corners during bumper to bumper traffic and walk you to the curb. They have those tint meters that measure the percentage of your tint. It drives me crazy also and I've bad some real nasty guys give me 1 per window! 4 tickets @90 a pop drives me crazy.
