Help - Cruise Control

Hey Guys, I have an odd one. I know most of you don't care about cruise control but I just got a new job with a lot of driving so I have a question. My laser guided cruise was working perfect until I litterally rolled into a parked car. I was not even going 5mph. I took it to the dealer and they said they said that is all it needs to break as it is really sensitive. They said it would cost the following:

Re-calibration of the laser - $300
Cruise control switch - $400
Laser system - $3000 WHAT!!!

Here is my questions:

1. I understand the part to re-calibration but could a tiny bump distroy the whole system?

2. Do these prices sound accurate?

3. Can I take this to another mechanic or is the dealer the only one that can fix something like this?

Thanks in advance for anyone who can help.

Does your regular cruise control still work?

No, I just get a beep when I try to press the button. I actually don't need the laser, I just want my basic cruise working.

Thanks.

Take it to another dealer and tell them it stopped working.

yes 3000 for the laser system is right. A bump could have throwen off the sensor. I was actually in the shop when they were recalibrating one. there is a jig and a special target they use then there are alot of measurmrnts and fine adjustment. it takes about 2 hrs with out test driving it after.
