Merry christmas to me....

A family member accidentally backed up into a g coupe that I got about a month ago. The back bumper will certainly need to be replaced as there is a basketball sized dent on the driver side, and the back tail light as well. Any idea what this might cost to fix? Is it worth it to report it to my insurance to cover it?

See if they will pay to fix it (which they should, their fault) if not insurance it is. I know they are fam, but think about this way, had they done this to someone else their insurance would be paying for it why should you get shafted?

You can get a rear bumper for around $500. Ask them to pay out of pocket. It will not show in their history or on car's history. Win-win

+1 on this. Definitely a good thing for both of you, their insurance doesn't take a hit, and you get your bumper replaced and this event will not go in your vehicle report.

Well it was my mother, if I can get a bumper for 500 that would be a good option. If I had my insurance fix it I assume my premiums would go up.

Yours won't but your mother's will. She's the one that hit your car, not the other way around.

Look around for bumpers, maybe it can be fixed for less. A new bumper will run you about $285 + shipping, then you have to paid to get it painted. The tail light is about $123.

I usually buy my parts from here: Infiniti Parts

It will then go against his comprehensive coverage, to which he likely has a deductible, and then go on his vehicle report. No easy way out of this one

I wasn't going to go through hers, was just thinking about going through mine since it may be awhile until she can pay for it.
