lack of quality body kits

I've never understood the lack of quality body kits for our cars. The only ones I'm aware of are Zele, impul and top secret (Which is now hard to come by). I've been holding out to see what comes along but so far nothing. I like the zele but would prefer something different as it seems a bit common (and lots of replicas too). The OEM stuff is OK but has become far too common (I actually have a bnib OEM kit sitting here...only bought it because of the steal of a price i paid but will probably sell at some point).

Are there any others that I may be unaware of?

Anybody know of any upcoming in the foreseeable future?

Am I stuck with stock, OEM or those mentioned above?

I'm typically not interested in replicas so no need to mention those as they are most likely copies of the ones mentioned above

Nope, Not much available becasue there's not much of a market. Our platform isn't one that gets modded as much compared to many other so manufacturers don't waste money on producing something that wont sell. It's not a big market and they have learned that they'll sell maybe 5 or 6 units and then it will be counterfeited by that time and they wont sell hardly any more of their pieces that they have worked hard and spent money to develop.

Tragic...I'd like to see a decent aftermarket rear/diffuser for our cars.

Yeah, the G37 market is very similar (in a lesser extent) to the 370Z market. The relatively small amount of cars sold relative to the amount of people interested in modding them and the overall initial cost of the car being a bit more expensive makes it prohibitive to many aftermarket aero makers. (and the knock-off parts companies don't make it very attractive to designers/shops that want to innovate)

If somebody came up with a new design and there were enough people seriously interested, something could be done pretty easily. In the end it just takes money to make things happen.

Relatively speaking, when I had my z, there were far more choices than there are for Gs ccurrently. That's not to say there were tons of choices in general but when compared to the g.......

look into autokits-x. they are a US company specialized in making after market body kits. they have one of the best fitments out there and price is not very far from reasonable. I know they will design a product with customers if they get 10 or so more people interested. Ive not seen another aftermarket company do that.

Autokits falls in the "replica/knockoff" company that BB is talking about.

Honestly the from aero bumper is very common. I would would recommend getting the rear aero bumper and sides, then getting an authentic front such as TS, or JP. The only way to be different is to mix and match. I know it sucks but the great thing about the aero parts is that the fitment is perfect and painted. Not many people have the aero rear. Maybe aero rear, zele sides and front. Need to be creative, but yeah the knock off ts lips have become very common as well as aero front. Wouldn't do either, unless authentic ts.

I do NOT want to argue this point in ANY way, and I know the reasons that you suggest they fall into that are due to the fact that they are a vendor of replica pieces, but just to inform a member who is asking for help and for the sake of completely informing him; Autokits X does make their own original designs and offer nice options for front lip, sides, and rear diffusers that are original. They are a great place to consider IMO and at least worth checking out.

I think everyone has already explained why we are lacking options. People who are in favor of replicas will try and tell u it doesn't matter but the proof is in the observation you made about the contrast of available kits between the 350z/g35 to 370z/g37.

I think Pcasey said it best the key to setting yourself apart is mixing and matching the various authentic options available. That's my plan and I've already selected the combo I'm going for.

To answer your question on what other kits are available, there's only one that has not been mentioned. It's the Burnout XD kit. Without giving away too much on my own upcoming setup it is part of the combination I've selected.

Autokits-x does sell replicas but to their credit, they offer original parts with great fitment. They are definitely worth checking out if you're not stuck on having a JDM bodykit.
Hope this helps.

@TeRRoRiFiC

Yeah...I know it. Although I don't post much, I've been a member here for a while and a Lurker for much longer. I'm with the group that feels that there is no point in replacing a decent (OEM) part for a lesser quality part just for the sake of Modding.

@mystakin I'm familiar with autokits but its not what I'm looking for. I don't have a design to offer or a means of making a prototype so having them make something probably wouldn't happen. Plus I'm not looking to wait that long (although its been a waiting game thus far since I bought my g some time ago ).

@PCasey Yeah...that's another reason I bought the OEM kit but haven't used it. Thinking that I could probably do the mix and match. I've thought about using the sides with other fronts. I don't own the rear though. Still not sure that I like it (for me). I've also thought about keeping the standard sport (2011+) bumper on and trying to match it with other kits (if I were to find one I thought might match).

@Soolman yeah..I've seen the burnout kit (pics only) but since I'm not familiar with them quality wise, I didn't look too closely. How do they compare to OEM or the big players (zele, TS.....) in terms of quality fit and finish?

Perfect article for this topic IMO. It details the feeling that prompted me to start this thread to the t.

In hindsight, I started this topic out of frustration....the topic I should have started should have been one listing all of the decent body kit makers or distributors who sell decent kits in hopes of convincing more support for them so that we get better choices going forward.

Btw....I'm curious who wrote the article. Well done.

So since the g35 was released 12+ years ago and the g almost 7 years ago how many kits have Zele, top secret, etc made? Full kits? For the coupe only?
