Battery issue

08 g37s.

I drive it only on weekends. Just hit 30k.

Drove to car wash and grocery store today. No problems starting.

Came home and unloaded and parked the car.

3 hours later my wife says I left the lights on.

I go out and the lights are on but the key won't open the door on first try.

I click a few times and the door opens.

The lights on the dash and gps screen are flicking and I get the "no key" icon.

Can't start car, can't turn off lights, just lock and unlock the doors.

I pulled the negative terminal and the lights go out. I put it back on and the car lights works as normal. I get in and try to start and it acts like I have a dead battery.

I do have a battery that says 84 months and has Infiniti on the top.

It's been extremely hot so past experience says just get a new battery.

Today I actually used the key to pop the trunk open which I never do. When I went to lock the car afterwards I noticed I didn't get the horn when the doors locked. I didn't think anything of it until my wife told me the lights were on.

Anyone have similar experience? (I did read about a faulty trunk latch in another thread)

Suggestions on a new battery?

Sounds like a dead battery. Is your 08 still under warranty? It shouldn't matter since there was a recall on all 08's for the battery and vent control valve system. Take it in to your dealership. Should be fixed at there expense.

+1 on warranty-replaced battery. Exactly the day after I bought my car the thing wouldn't start! I was soooo pissed off... Got a battery on my own and replaced it, took it to the dealer and they told me about the battery issues and the TSB that fixed it. Returned the battery I had purchased and been happy for the last 6 months!

Thanks Guys.

I'm bringing it to the shop today to get checked out.

The night it happened I disconnected the battery to try and see if the car would reset. I couldn't turn off the lights or start it. When I reconnected the battery I didn't notice that it rolled the windows down. I had already rolled the driver side down partially so I didn't notice that the passenger side was down in the dark.

Yesterday I get home to see if I can charge the battery to get it to the shop and I noticed the window down. There were torrential rains a few hours before and the inside of the car got wet. The mats were semi soaked and there were drops on the seat and door and a few on the shifter. I pulled the mats out and vacuumed the car out. Not as a bad as you'd think in a pouring rain. All I can think is that the rain was coming down hard at an angle on the opposide side of the car.

before I started the battery charging I double checked both windows then disconnected the battery and charged it. The charger said it was reading 10.1 amps.

this morning the battery was fully charaged and the car started right up.

The only problem I see is that there's a little bit of moisture behind the NAV screen and the windows will not roll up automatically after closing them. I had a hell of a time trying to get the driver side up. I finally started the car again and then rolled it up.

It's sitting in my friends garage near work with a crack in the window right now.

Fun Fun.. to the infiniti dealer soon...

Sounds like a dead battery. Do you know if they preformed the batter TSB on you're car? If you don't know check with you're dealership to see.

Well for the windows you just have to reset it. Roll the windows all the way down and roll them all the way back up but hold it for like 20 seconds and it should be reset.

Sweet! Glad you're still under warranty now uh? LOL

Did the moisture behind the LCD Nav screen go away? I hope it did...

I think I am having the same issue. I have an '09 G37S coupe purchased a little over a month ago. Have had no issues with this in the last month. Here is my timeline of events:

Saturday:
Tried to turn it on, just clicks and does not turn over. Jumped it and it started easily, drove it around for about half an hour.

Sunday
Did not drive it.

Monday
Car would not start (no clicks this time) Jumped it and took it to Advance (figured dead battery) but they said it was fine. Drove it to work (~15minutes), parked and returned to it 5 hours later and it started with no issue. Got home around 5pm and parked.

Just a few minutes ago (about 5 hours after i drove it home from work) I went outside and tried to start it. It struggled but did turn on. I am expecting it to not turn on tomorrow morning, but we shall see.

Does this pattern of events seem like the same issue this thread is about? What would cause this problem to start happening all of a sudden? I bought the car used from Carmax so I don't have a relationship established with the Infiniti dealership yet. Can I just take it Infiniti and say "Fix it!" ?
