Aero/IPL Cost Difference Depending on Bumper Color

Hi,

I was just looking-up the price of the Aero/IPL front bumper on orderinfinitiparts.com and found there to be a major difference in price depending on the color bumper selected. The Moonlight White that I would need for my car costs $1495.00 while the Blue Slate and Liquid Platinum are only $283.48, which is a difference of over $1000 . What could possibly contribute to or justify this price differential? Couldn't I just order the Liquid Platinum bumper and have it resprayed Moonlight White? Would I run into color matching issues?

Best Regards,

Michael

There could potentially being color matching issues whether you get it pre-sprayed from Nissan or from a shop. Depends on how well you paint is or how badly its faded. IMO the OEM Nissan paint will be a little better and have less orange peel, but if you have a good painter, orange peel will be limited. Buy the liquid platinum/blue slate and get it painted moonlight white if you want to go the less expensive route. The price difference is simply a demand aspect.

There is quite a large thread in the body section on this website dedicated to the ipl/aero bumper swap. I believe that Infiniti finally caught on about their price mistake on the bumpers when all of a sudden there was a ridiculous influx of orders for them, especially black. Many people are still ordering the colour not for their vehicle and getting it painted to their vehicle's colour as it is still cheaper. As for the difference in paint colour from factory to shop... I'm sure there is a difference but if you get a quality job it should come out ok.

I believe this is an pricing error. I think the reason why the black and white got marked up is because those were the two hot selling colors for the bumper. A buddy of mine just got the IPL bumper in blue slate and got it repainted white. The paint came out great looks like oem style paint. He paid 325 for the bumper and $200 for the paint job. So $525 OTD, which is way better then 1500.

Wow, $200 for paint is pretty cheap! Nice price. Everyone around here wants $300+ for a respray.

Yeah I know a buddy of mine that does high quality paint jobs. He repaints super cars all the time and hooked my friend up. So people aren't going to say well you get what you paid for. Our G's are only $1 bills to him.
