Lock Switch on Driver Side Door

Quick question, Dudes...

I noticed last night that my new G37XS coupe has only half of the door lock switch illuminated at night when the headlights are on. The top half of the switch is LOCK, the bottom half is UNLOCK. Only the top half of the switch is illuminated, the bottom half is dark.

Is this by design? Is half of my switch burnt out?

It's by design. If you know which way is lock, you should be able to easily deduce which was is unlock. At least I'm assuming that's what their thinking was.
