Potential G37x owner

My Wife and I were out car shopping for her and while at the Infiniti dealer looking at a Dodge Challenger a 2010 G37x caught her eye. I too thought it was a pretty hot ride and the more I research the car the more impressed I am. The car has 12,000 miles on it and automatic. The asking price is $32,000. Does anyone have any advice on what I should look out for and is the price fair?

First car I seen was a challanger, ended up with a G and I have no interest in any other car anymore. 08 with 45k and asking price was 22,500 (sport model 08 5AT).

When you drive a G, it's hard to drive past a car that you wish you had instead.

When I was searching I did not find any 2010 models within $25k and only 2-3 2009 models up to $25k so the 32,000 might not be so bad and it has low mileage.

An Infiniti dealer rep had told me it would be very hard to find an 08 under 23k that has not had an accident on it. It's definitely possible to find a car at the price point you want, it just takes some time and searching.

I know I wasn't able to provide much on the '10 but you should have somewhat of an idea as to how much it may cost since the 08 is ~23-24k. I've seen some 08's listed as high as 26-27.

Best of luck on your new purchase!

That's a pretty fair asking-price for a 10x. I'd start at 29 and give them a final-offer of 30.5, maybe 31 for that car, as an off-the-cuff estimate.

What color is it and do you know what packages it has? Sun-roof, memory driver-side seats, and bose speakers are good indicators of the premium package. Also, look for lots of buttons just beneath the display (should be 12-14ish) if it's got the navigation package. Finally, there's the tech-package, which I believe will have a slot for a memory card to the right of passenger-side airbag warning light on the center console. For other members reading this, please correct me if I'm wrong about the Nav / Tech packages, as my car doesn't have either.

Some common complaints among G37 owners tend to be the paint (it's pretty soft and sensitive [read: easily susceptible to nics and dings from road debris]). Also, earlier models had some trouble with dead batteries if they were not driven often. That said, I purchased my 10x in May and haven't had any trouble with the battery. I think that may have been resolved with the 10 and later models though. Finally, some of the 7-speed automatic transmission owners gripe of a bit of lag between shifts. Personally, I don't really notice it with mine, but it bothers some people.

I don't know where you're located but if you're looking to use the X in snow, it handles like a dream. It gives the driver a scary sense of confidence, especially if you're not accustomed to an AWD vehicle.

If you'd like any other info from another 10x Coupe owner, shoot me a PM and I'll do my best. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info. I figured I'd start at about $27k and work my way up. We're in a good spot because we don't need a new car right now and my Wife loves her 2000 Chrysler 300M. We've had The 300M since it was new and it only has 80k on it. It's being handed down to my Son who's headed to college this fall. The G does have the "premium" package but not the "tech" or Nav. packages. It's slate blue. Other than some transmission issues some have had I haven't read anything but good things about this car. I have only owned two non-American branded cars in the past 35 years, but if I'm going to go foreign this seems like a good choice.

Test drove both of the cars in mention. I own one of them now... Go Infiniti you'll be happy with the choice. Try to knock the price down a little though.

I just bought an '08 G37 no nav and non sport but has all power options and sun roof. I freaking love this car. It has 25,000 miles and I gave $25,250 for it. Best car Ive ever owned. Go with the G.
