I agree with Murdered, it looks pretty serious. Glad you made it out alive! You have a higher purpose here on earth

That's not a maybe, that's a definite. The results he posted show he was obviously driving too fast for the road conditions, that's not in dispute. He stated so pretty clearly. Otherwise this thread wouldn't exist.

yup...and maybe VDC...but it could have been on. VDC does not solve world hunger..its only gonna help you if you are punching it in a corner and such...but if you have lost rear lateral grip then lose the front grip...and you are going 65 mph...there isnt sh*t you can do. your along for the ride.

like i said..people underestimate speed in corners and how quickly you can be in trouble if you don't know what your doing.
ive been there before

i had my G for a week..300 miles on..and decided to turn VDC off and take a corner at 20 mph and punch it in 2nd gear...on yeah...she was WAY loose...and i almost lost the rear end...but at 20mph i have plenty of time to react..even then..if i screwed up...i was done for. or at least my rims would be trashed. lol

Wet and low temps = take corners slow.

Never trust that outside temperature gauge! It's on of the most inaccurate car outside temperature gauges I've ever seen. Mine is constantly 5-8 degrees off. Glad you're ok man that's one serious spill!

The important thing here is that you walked away relatively unscathed, save your pride. Cars are replaceable and hopefully you've learned a valuable lesson. That's really about all you can ask for. Best of luck with everything and again, glad you're okay.

QueenCity and BB are both correct.
I was driving too for the conditions and had VDC off. When you lose a car going at the limit of performance tires you need a lot of space to correct. Tires can only do 100% of their ability. When you are sideways your mitigation to traction, while at the limit, is astronomical. I made a bad gamble and am now paying for it. I have to swallow that AND the fact I could have killed someone else.

I will not try to save face or pride. One of the reasons I am posting this is to encourage others to do the right thing. I rather be a useful tool than a useless idiot. I messed up, end of story.

Take care and drive safe! God bless.

BTW, I didn't ask those questions to try to to put you down at all. I know that you are already about as low as you can get and I empathize wholeheartedly having totalled more than one (or two) car in my day. I asked for the same reasons you listed, to make sure that people (including myself) know the circumstances and hopefully benefit from your mistake. Huge props to you for being big enough to 1) share your misfortune for our benefit and 2) tell the honest truth unlike a few in the past who posted bogus stories of how they wiped out rather than the truth that they screwed up.

Which tires are on the car?

Toyo T1Rs and I do not, would never, recommend them. Get Super Sports from America's Tire. Way better in every way and they have a 30k warranty! I had these t1r tires for about 11k and they were gone. There was just barely any side tread. Not worn to any of the tells though. Evidence of my driving style I suppose. They still had some good mid tread which was, all considered, odd has I had a higher load rated than stock and were 2lbs off max pressure. They channeled water well but since they rounded as time went on, got grabby in ruts. Next week was my time to get new tires... (lol oops) I was going to get SS's for les than the t1r's. I was buying 2 rear rims off a forum member so I could get 275's all the way around. Oh well... BTW, to add, T1Rs do not progress through their tread-life evenly at all. Traction decreases quite significantly. I was thinking about writing an in depth review but not sure now.

Sent from my android phone.

FWIW all my posts have been sent from my phone. My laptop was in the trunk. The thing is so far gone it is puzzling. Another 1500 to add to the learning experience. Sigh...
