If they're not filing a claim, and the police weren't involved, don't go to you insurance. It's not worth it. If there's a police report, go to your insurance. If they find out you've had an at fault wreck and didn't report it to them, they're likely to drop you.

I had something similiar happen to me 2 weeks ago. Someone backed into my bumper and it had the tow hitch ball protruding into the bumper. So it messed up my bumper and small crack on the grill. It was a hit a run and I had to my local body shop and they say to report to the police and get a police # so that I don't have to pay the full deductable. So it was reduce it to $200. Also if you haven't, try to claim it as a hit and run, if the other person didn't want to report it. And file a police report so they can lower your deductable. In the end I had a brand new sport bumper(I had the base model bumper) with the midnight grill AND no more of those plate holes. Anyways, GL TC.

If they aren't going to file, then double check that there isn't any other damage than cosmetic. If there isn't, use that as an excuse to get the bumper that you want. if you file:

A: You insurance will go UP so it's more than $500.
B: It's a good chance that it will go on your car-fax (or maybe u need a police report for that) which means less $$$ should you trade the car in.

I had someone hit the G and only do damage to the bumper. I didn't file but I DID get a police report....and it ended up on my Car-fax. I didnt find out until last month when I traded the G in :/

Thanks everyone.

Im going to get a repair appraisal done tomorrow and decide from there what I want to do. They should be able to work the deductible in I think.

I really want to try to score a lip or something to help the depression of looking at the hole this week.

So I got the estimate.

I took it to a body shop that a friend of mine owns.

The estimate to the insurance company is $1295.07 before pulling the bumper. He said there could be core support damage because of how far the absorber was impacted. He told me he could get my deductible down to $250 unless there is more damage.

Alternatively, he told me the absolute least I could pay out of pocket (without insurance, unless more damage) is just over $800.

The breakdown for parts was:
Bumper cover - $399.15
Energy Absorber- $75.28
Grille - $234.12 (Factory color, I will be ordering midnight)

Thoughts?

Sure is.

How much more is the 2011 bumper cover? I know I would need the bottle, and vents.

Then add the Aero side skirts and youd be set. Car would look great with those mods.

I don't think IPL bumper is available in ivory pearl, correct? I figured my best choice was 2011 sport and have body shop paint. Is this right?

I'm pretty sure if you get an IPL bumper, it would still need to be painted. The only vehicle I know of that sells a bumper cover painted is Volvo.

depending on your insurance company...that claim would be forgivable...so your monthly cost wouldn't go up at all.

id say pay the deductible..talk to bdsy shop into using a part from a different year to change the front fascia of the car and be done with it.

that's just my .02
