YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BELIEVE THIS SO, Hypothetically speaking, I have a friend that went to buy a G37 coupe, he and salesman(SM) make a deal on trade in value of his trade as well as sales price of G37. As paperwork is being completed the SM comes in and says, "I need to disclose something to you" and proceeds to him the car had a "scratch" fixed on the right rear quarter panel. My friend immediately says "lets go out and look at the quarter panel" and they cannot find any evidence of this repair to the right quarter so the paperwork finished and the deal done.
Two days later my friend is walking up to the car as it was parked way out in back of a parking lot and notices that the door...the entire passenger door is a significantly different shade of color. Upon closer examination, it is apparent the entire door has been repainted. Friend takes the car back to dealer and sales manager is pretty much speechless, agreeing it is very obviously been repainted. He states, "he was told it was a small scratch that needed to be fixed and never looked further into it."
So he asks friend what he wants to do, friend and he agree on a new car but he will have to dealer locate one. Days go by and dealer finally calls and says he has found a car, the other dealer is holding it. He says I will go get it on Monday(this is a Friday). Monday comes and no call, Tuesday friend calls and is told the other dealer sold car over weekend...friend is told they have a few more places to call. After a few more days friend calls and is told, "we cannot find another car" (friend is able to locate quite a few in 250 mile radius). So dealers General MGR gets on phone and says why don't you let me fix it...friend says ok but it needs to be perfect! When friend goes to pick up car from body shop (he also finds out what really happened to door) it is pouring rain. Friend says he is not comfortable picking up in bad weather, he is assured it is perfect by the mgr and if not will make it right. Well guess what, there is still a glob of paint under door handle, small scratches from reinstall of handle and swirls in clear coat. This is their second shot at trying to fix this, friend not feeling good about their abilities!
Friend loves the car and feels like he got a good deal (if it was a perfect NEW car)! Now basically the whole left side has been repainted and it is a crappy job...
WHAT WOULD YOU DO? Friend does not want to cancel deal, don't you feel like it is on them to make it right...and what would make this whole deal fair. Friend has been VERY patient!
Thanks!
PS.holding names of all people until it is resolved, if they do not make it right he WILL make sure you all know who it is so someone else does not go through this mess...never would have thought INFINITI would treat people like this!!!!! Oh this is a $51,000 car!!!

Sorry to say this but your friend is an idiot for not leaving the dealership without them putting on paper they will replace car.
Dealer pulling a fast one by repainting. No paint like Original factory paint ...

^^ Agreed. It is a stalling tactic. If you're paying $51K for a BRAND NEW CAR, then what part of repainting is BRAND NEW?!?! I'd tell him to stick it, cancel the order and get a BRAND NEW CAR from a BRAND NEW DEALERSHIP! Sorry for the shouting. Just a little frustrated that anyone would put up with that garbage.

Dealer is stepping up and making it right..will keep you posted. It is new and it is an IPL. Everything looks good as of today! Very cool to see Infiniti dealership being one of the premium brands!
I'm glad it worked out for your friend. I, personally, wouldn't have accepted anything other than a replacement. You (referring to your friend) paid for a new car and you get a new car, nothing less. It's not just a matter of principle, it's also a matter of ethics.
