Not to mention there was a recent Supreme Court ruling that local law enforcement can "use their experience and judgement to determine vehicle speed" without using any measuring device. In other words, if the cop says you are speeding, then you are speeding. No Radar is required.

The case happened in Ohio. But the ruling applies to all 50 states.

That sounds like it could be easily beaten in court though

Just wondering, but why would these devices interfere with each other? I didn't think that radar detectors broadcast any kind of signal, just detect.

Escort Passport 9500ci - 1699.95

I'm not knocking on the Valentine here either, just looking for some clarifications. In my opinion, the Valentine V1 would be better compared with the Escort Passport 9500xi instead of the 9500ci, as they're both free-standing detectors. That said, being that the Valentine seems like it can hold it's own against fully-installed detectors that are 3x the price, that's a statement within itself.

I have the passport 9500ix and I love it. I have it hardwired to the rearview mirror with the mirror mount so I have no hanging cords. This detector has paid for itself at least 3 times already. The GPS functions are great and it also has a display that shows when multiple signals are detected at once. I also like that the alert volume and the display brightness is automatically adjusted depending on surrounding light and noise. And it automatically switches between City and Highway mode based on your speed. I hardly even notice the detector is in the car. This was a good investment for me. I wish it showed the direction the radar signal was coming from like the V1 does, but I can live without.

Only because you have never lived with it!

Never really understood why there would be interference but I've heard it from reputable sources and took those comparison videos with a grain of salt

9500ci comes with laser shifters (my thing is if you're going to get jammers, might as well spend money on the best equipment or save towards. That is why I never mentioned it to begin with).

And yes the V1 would be more comparable to the 9500xi. The fully installed detector will be undetectable in places where radar detectors are illegal (VA and DC) and will have better performance (STI-R plus) in certain situations. Most of these performance differences will be negligible differences in the grand scheme of avoiding tickets. I have one experience where my V1 didnt go off at all less than 200 feet from the source. The source was perpendicular to me at the time and didnt go off until I turned on to the street in its direction. I was maybe 300 feet away before turning and other detectors will alert. This is an isolated case though. Overall I love the V1

Interference happens a lot on my V1........

Mine will go off like crazy and all I see is another car with a radar detector on its windshield and no cop cars for miles and miles. as soon as I pull over and let the other car pass, alert will go out.

All radar detectors produce some radar signals. That's how radar detector detectors work. Some give off alot, some give off just a little bit. Some don't give off enough for RDD units to pick them up, but they still give off some.

That's where your interference comes in.

Cobra's do it a lot...I was behind a 528ix a couple of months ago and it was giving of KA band radar (I know some vehicles give off K band due to lane departure/blind spot warning systems, but I had now clue what this was)

To AllentownG37: The video comparison in the video is for the STI-R not the STI-R plus I went with the sti-r plus b/c for one I own the STI Driver and its done great. Still use it in my wifes car. I went with it over the 9500ci b/c of the Ka band segemetation and the cheaper price. I do not need laser shifter as they are illegal in Illinois. I'm still looking into it and did not want to be stuck with the ZR4 which do not get the greatest reviews. IF i was going to do laser I was going to get the Laser Interceptor and hopefully laser tamers if they ever come out.

Itchytoe: Yep th STI series can be put almost next to the spectre and not be detected. The newer ones will not even be detected right next to it. I think revision A4 and higher. The Sti-R driver was put right next to the Radar detector detector and it only went off about a few inches away from the spectre iV

So really no worries.

Any new developments with the Laser Tamers?

The laser detection can be very annoying if I'm in front of an Infiniti. The laser guided cruise control on the FX is awful on the detectors...

I had an 06 FX35 with the intelligent cruise that would set off my V1, I finally had to shut off the laser detector.
My 2011 G37Xs has the intelligent cruise, but it doesn't bother the V1 at all.
