When I leased it I was told my xS doesn't come with a limited slip or the sport tuned steering. So I think it's just the wheels, seats, paddles, bigger brakes, and sport front fascia including slightly different looking fogs. I think it's worth it just for the wheels and brakes. I had the '08 sport coupe before my current '11 xS coupe. The 08 was probably a bit more nimble due to less weight and sport steering, but I'm very pleased with the stability of the awd and of course the 7 speed over the 5 speed. (Both are/were automatics obviously.)

Just saying... everyone has different priorities.
A small price to pay for the extra sexiness!

There is also the G37x with the Sports Appearance package. Compared to the G37xS with the Sports package. Confusing isn't it!

Here are the differences:

G37x with the Sport Apperance Package comes with 18inx7.5 in 9- spoke alloy wheels v rated all season tires, front chin spoiler and rear decklid spoilier.

The G37xS with the sports package is 18x7.5 in split 5-spoke wheels all season v-rated,sportfront fascia, side sills and unique sport headlights. solid magnesium paddle shifters, 12-way drivers sport seat, including manuel thigh extensions and drivers power torso and thigh support adjustments, 8-way power front passengers sport seata with manual thigh extensions.

Also you get a cool looking red S on the trunk deck. G37xS is the way to go in my opinion, but you still got a kickin good ride.

Sorry my specs listed above were based on the sedan not the coupe. Not for sure on the coupe...

That's a good question. I've been aware of the weight difference, but not the explanation.

Anyone know the answer to that?

It does come with Viscous Limited-Slip Differential but not Sport Tuned Steering.

Oh what is also unfortunate is that the xS coupe comes with the 19 x 8.5-inch wheels front & back, its not a staggered setup like the RWD Journey or Sport 6MT which is 19 x 8.5-in front & 19 x 9-in back. But then again you save money on tires without a staggered. What also blows my mind is that on infiniti's website, the Journey RWD & Sport 6MT are showing to be the only ones to come with an 18 inch spare if you have the 19 inch sport wheels & not the AWD with Sport Package. Showing to be 17 inch spare for AWD coupe regardless of Sport or Non-Sport. I'm at work right now but can anyone confirm if it actually comes with the 18 inch spare with Sport package?

Infiniti should of put the same exact stuff in the sport package for the journey & 6MT in the AWD xS coupe. The package cost exactly the same as the journey one! $1,900! & you're missing the sport tuned steering! Not fair!

"S" is the sport option. "X" is all-wheel drive. "XS" is both options on the same car, but then it's the 7AT... which is nice and all, but conspicuously missing that third pedal. All wheel drive isn't available when you get the 6MT.

The intrusion beam in the door has to replace the strength provided by the b pillar on the frame of the sedans for safety standards. This made the weight of the coupe more than the sedan

That's a brilliant answer to my nine year old question. Thanks!

I knew if I waited long enough... LOL
