2008 G37s front bumper vents/cutouts question

This car is growing on me more and more!

When looking at a G37s earlier today, I noticed the vents on the front bumper were not vents, just filled with plastic with a mesh look. Are these ever populated? My understanding is that the fog lights are integrated into the headlights. So were these vents/cutouts ever used for anything?!

Cutout seem extreme, If you look closer they snap in. Better to just take them out rather than hack away. They are not cheap if you want to go back to stock.

I have those removed completely. This provides a nice vent to the Injen CAI filters that resides behind them.

I took them out and made real metal mesh in gloss black. Looks a lot better

there is zero use for them unless you go aftermarket intake, and the only intake to make them functionable would be the Injen CAI intake.

yeah 2008-10 they are just faux vents. On 2011+ they have the fogs integrated into the vents.

I was thinking of putting fog lights in them as well, do you think the plastic is strong enough to support holding some

I would suggest you do a search of my threads, I've done 3 separate set ups in regards to the faux vents. Others have been creative as well...

^^^ very nice! i cut out each individual diamond to make it look like the rest of the lower bumper. Time consuming but i love my car so i dont mind taking some time to do stuff to it

here's mine with the vent removed and a clear shot of Injen CAI filter. The tabs that secure the faux vent were shaved, smoothed and painted for a cleaner appearance
