Good ol Dealership's.....arghhh

Went to go in for an oil change......came out with a dinged wheel . Service manager comes out a little disgruntled. Here is how our conversation went.

Me : What are we going to do about this?
Him: We will refinish it for you.
Me: What if you can't match it's finish?
Him: Well what do you propose?
Me: Replace the wheel?
Him: Man, this goes from a $40 dollar oil change to several hundred dollars......Tell you what, I noticed you came in with another wheel curbed. What if we refinish that one and the one we dinged for you as well?
Me: Sounds decent, but what if you can't match the color?
Him: Ya know, we just may have to have lowered cars stop coming in here for good if we can't service them without damaging them.
Me: I called you earlier and you said your dealership accepts lowered cars (keep in mind, it's lowered with a modest eibach drop).
Him: Yeah, I thought I recognized your voice. Your low profile tires probably contributed to this as well.
Me: Umm, you do know stock g37's come with low profile tires so my wheels aren't that much different.
Him: *mumbles*, yeah, but your wheels are wider. Not to mention your wheels are dark so you can notice imperfections easier (what does that have to do with anything, LOL?)
Me: I have stock g37 wheels at home curbed and I can notice the imperfection on them just as much as these.
Him: I won't replace the wheel, but I will still offer the refinish.
Me: Fine, but if you can't match the color I want new ones for replacements.
Him: *Mumbles*, ok, walks away.

I'm not too happy about this but things happen. I didn't really like his attitude but I can understand why he would be mad. I think this guy is trying to exert his authority with saying he won't replace the wheel. Little does he know he might be better off doing that because their relatively cheap wheels in the first place (I even told him this). I also didn't like the fact that he implied that my business was not welcome after this was taken care of. Good times.

Well frankly I think you are ahead of the game that they even admitted they did something. I would have expected "they came in like that".

It's sad we even have to think that way in the first place, but true.

They will probably refinish the entire wheel, not touch up just the damaged spot, so you will not be able to see any difference. In the end you may come out ahead.

Pictures of the damage?

I will get some pics up shortly. After further inspection it looks like this could have happened during the car wash. I think they have one of those auto wash's so that means they had to drive it up on something. Do you want to hear the kicker?..... I specifically told them not to wash the car! I had the service guy write it down twice on the invoice. Unbelievable.

Which dealership? They are notorious for not complying with your request for skipping the wash. The reason is that unless the service writer writes it noticeably on the ticket (LIKE IN ALL CAPS!!!) they don't notice it and do it as a matter of habit. I can almost guarantee that the wash is where the wheels were damaged vs the oil change. The conveyor in the wash is known to damage wheels. If you take it there regularly, make sure the service writer knows that you don't want it washed ever. Make a big deal of it so they might remember. Then put a big post it note in the center of the steering wheel just in case.

I'm not going to name the dealership just yet. If things do not go my way then I will do otherwise. Yeah, the wash thing has happened to me before at other dealerships. You know what's funny, the car looks ****tier than it did then when it was dirty because they didn't dry the damn thing so there are streaks everywhere. @#$%#@$. On to the pics.

I forgot to mention there is a small chunk missing from the wheel. Can they fix that as well?

A same type scenario happened to me when my car was only 5 days old! Took it to the dealership to have something done and when I got it back there was dent on my passenger side door. They denied it was them but they ended up fixing it.

The top of your tires looks like it's splitting from the side wall!

Tragic. They scratched your wheel rim and damaged your tire sidewall for good measure.

It's a decieving pic. There is a bit of rubber that got gouged but it's not too bad ( I think). The manager assured me it was ok (he said he used to work for bridgestone, LOL). I think you're seeing the fender liner above the tire. Right?

just had a similar situation.
dealership damages rim attempts to conceal by painting black.
other than the nailpolish look, made them pay to re coat.
sent to a place thru reccomendation, 3.weeks i waited.
only for the guy to make a small tear in a brand new tire.
dealership left me the headache of remounting tire. service manager tries to tell me their machine cant mount 20s. So if replied what about the qx56? lying *****.
what a screw job, it still ended up costing me 250 for dealership to fix damages they made.
