Thinking about getting a G37S Coupe....
Thinking about getting a G37S Coupe....
My previous cars were like this: 2004 Nissan 350Z Enthusiast 6MT to a 2005 Infiniti G35 Coupe w/Sport 5AT to a 2009 Nissan 370Z Base 6MT w/Sport to a 2010 Toyota 4Runner....and then I sold the 4Runner last month, and my 2 beaters now that have always been around are a 2006 Lexus RX330 and a 2007 Toyota Camry...
so now, I'm back in the market for another car...at first, I was considering getting a 2008 Acura RL, then I decided that I was gonna get a 2009 370Z 7AT Touring/Sport (yes, automatic this time)...then I decided that I'm gonna throw a Lexus GS460 in the mix...then 5 days ago, I decided that I'm gonna want another 2010 or 2011 Toyota 4Runner Limited...but after seeing a G37 coupe on the road yesterday during lunch, I decided that I'm going to start aggressively looking for a 2009 G37S coupe 7AT...
I decided that whatever car I'm going to buy will be an automatic...I love the stick shift, but it does a number to my back problem shifting in the long run...and at first, I was thinking the 2008 G37S, but I guess after finding out that the 2008 were all 5AT, I decided to move up to the 2009...I would go back to a 350Z, but I didn't like the automatic tranny in the 350Z, hence, that's why I want the 7AT....I know personally from previously test driving the 370Z 7AT that it shifts very fast, and the sequential was far more superior than the 5AT of the previous generation....how much of an improvement in the G series between the 5AT and the 7AT? I hated my G35 when I owned it cuz the tranny lagged so much when it downshifted...was this improved much between the 2007 G35 to the 2008 G37 AT?
And those of you who own the 2009 G37, were there any "chronic" problems with the vehicle that I should know? Anything I should look out for? My criteria for the vehicle will be 2009 model, 7AT sport, white exterior with tan interior...I have noticed that that color combination is very hard to find (or do they not even make this combo?)...I remember looking at the G37 back in 2007 when they released the car, I don't remember if that option was even available in the S package....any word of advice regarding anything would be greatly appreciated...thanX ya in advanced..

Yes get the 7AT if you did not like the 5AT in your G35. You will have slightly better gas mileage and a smoother highway gear experience.
In all the G's look for bubbling in the seats (dealer warranty), windshield popping noise (fixable with lubing cowl), creaking from moonroof/dash (warranty), exhaust rattling (warranty) for starters. Some people have all these problems others have none it depends. The G is a great car and I am sure you will love it especially coming from a G35.
