Soon to be owner and a big thank you!

Hi!

Well I've been to test drive for a second time the G37xS acoupe and it seems you'll have another convert.

I have a new black/black G37xS coupe with the Tech package coming in for me this months. I will trade my 2009 TL for it.

Dealership is great and they gave me a very fair price for my former car. So what I have planned is:

Options:
Tints

Mods after the break in period
Hotchkis Sway bars
RB 2 pieces rotors and ET500 pads + SS lines
RPF1 Enkei wheels with Michelin Pilot Super sport tires (245/40/19).

I test drove it today in the rain with my little bro and we had a blast. The limits of traction being mnuch lower with wet roads, the car handled like a champ and it felt just right!

Can't wai to get it and start improving it!

I'll be back later with pics of the finished product!

very good choice of your mods. But what do you benefit of having two piece rotor? Imo save the money for that and replace them later, and maybe use that money towards to coils or spring ? I heard there is new line of performer spring coming out from swift.

Reduction of unsprung weight and better safety. The 2 piece rotors will save 8 lbs per wheel in front and 4 lbs per corner for the rear. Along with the lightweight wheels we're looking at 15 lbs saved for the 2 front wheels and 11 lbs per corner for the rear. The benefits will include:
- stronger acceleration
- much better braking
- better handling
- softer , more compliant ride despite the fat 245 max performance tires.

I've read an article where the effect of reducing unsprung weight have been measured (using a 350z IIRC) and it looked like for every 3 lbs shaved from unsprung weight, the car got quicker by 0.1. This is only a rule of thumb so don't sue me if it does not pan out exactly as planned. lol

In real life, I did buy lightweight wheels for the 09 TL SH-AWD and even with 8lbs per corner saved, the difference was huge, got all the above benefits so with an average of 12-13 lbs shaved from corners in a AWD car, it'll be a huge improvement.

In my opinion and I'm still a noob with modding (but still did Intake, spacers, J-pipe on the TL), removing unsprung weight is the first thing to do, especially with our heavy cars. It enhances every aspect of the sport/luxury combo...but it's more expensive than doing the exhaust and CAI, however:

- I still needed wheels either for summer of winter so might as well choose high quality ones;
- I still need better rubber, so might as well choose the best tires available;
- It leaves all the rest open and ready for a second round of mods.

So for me it's more a choice of investing in wheels that will be functional and beautiful to me. As for the brakes, since I'll be leasing the car, the OEM brake rotors and pads will return at the end so I will be able to return the car without worrying about that.

My 2 cents,
-YetiTL

Check out the comments about the Super Sports on this thread. It Amy change your ind on the rubber.

Not saying it's a bad decision. Just offers additional information to make a better one.

Ty, that's mighty kind of you! I had Hankook ventus K110 on the TL and frankly they are awesome but wear quickly and are quite noisy when at half thread life.

I want to try the Mich. Pilot Super Sport as they are the replacement for the PS2 and I would like to try a great set of summer rubber and so I can compare. If not with the PSSport, I would go for Continental DW. To be honest, this car will likely see some tracks so the Michelin PSSport seemed like the best bet and a few $$$ more for the tires isn't going to kill me financially.

Have a great day and thank you again!

Well not for now since it'll be quite costly already. I'll enjoy the G for the whole year like that then I'll decide if I want to touch the ride height and the exhaust. The problem with spring is that we have lots of speed bumps around here so it would likely be dangerous for the body kit.

Thank you for the kind words!
