Question for owners of black 1st gen. G35s

Please settle an argument for me. If you have or have owned a black G35, tell me this. I know that the black color (KH3) of the G37 is called Black Obsidian. Was the same color (KH3) on first generation G35 coupes and sedans called Black Obsidian, Obsidian Black, or something different entirely?

Black Obsidian, KH3... same color code used on ALL black Infiniti's and Nissans for the last 20 or so years.

I know the color code. I'm asking if it was called the exact same thing on the 1st gen. G's. My '91 Hardbody pickup was KH3 and it was called Super Black. Just like they changed the name of Ivory Pearl to Moonlight White

ivory pearl and moonlight white are two different shades of white though, therefore i would assume its two different paint codes. If the paint code on your old car was KH3 regardless if the name is different should be the same paint.

Thought the 2 whites were the same color, different name. Thanks, now I know.

So the be clear, KH3 paint color has never been called "Obsidian Black" before it was currently called "Black Obsidian"? Is this correct?

Have seen it called both, but to my knowledge......the "correct" term has always been "Black Obsidian"

I always wished it was Obsidian Black. Just hate it when people shorten it to BO..... body odor.

yeah but 'OB' wouldn't be much better, isn't that a fem hygiene product?

this is reason #42 why Blue Slate rocks, because i can live with any connotations that 'BS' implies.

I'm used to hearing Super Black for Nissans as well, so I get where you're coming from

Super Black is just a different name for the exact same color as Black Obsidian. They're both KH3. I think some Nissan models still use it. It's just marketing, nothing more.

Yeah, Nissan uses the same colours as Infiniti but gives them different names. For example, Nissan calls Malbec Black "Crimson Black".

This has to be one of the funniest threads of this site. Black obsidian? Obsidian black? Just black? Very dark black? Blacker than black?
