Hello everyone, I bought my wife a black 2008 G37 Coupe a few weeks ago and thought I would join the forum and start getting this car of hers set up in the right direction...lol

I saw another post about someone new to the forum and everyone seemed to say that the guy needed to lower his G37...what would the advantage be? Wouldn't the ride be a lot stiffer by lowering the car?

I was looking for rim ideas today all over the internet. I am looking to get some black and chrome wheels for her car soon. Any ideas about brand? She has 19" stock rims on her car now. I would post a picture however for some reason it is not letting me from my ipad.

I was also interested in a chip for some quick performance gain..any help there would be appreciated too.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.
As far as a chip for performance gains, you should go with an Uprev tune. It does not require an external chip or replacement of your ECU. The Uprev software is used to build a new Map and burn it ot the flash in your existing ECU. You can go back to the stock setting at any time. Find a reputable tuner to do this work if you want to get the most out of the experience. Other quick mods that are relatively cheap are cold air intakes (CAI) and Cat Back Exhausts (CBE). If you plan to add these then do so before getting a tune.

Simply lowering your ride with a set of springs will not make it a lot stiffer. There are options for springs that give you a nice OEM like ride. The advantages are 1. It looks a lot better to get rid of some of the wheel gap, 2. It lowers the center of gravity of the vehicle which improves handling. Search around on the forum with the search tool and you will find many threads about replacement springs and lowering the suspension.

As far as wheels go, there are many options from $$ to $$$$$. I would also suggest searching on the forums and looking at pics posted by other members to get an idea of what you like. Then it comes down to what you want to spend.

Have fun and remember, modding these cars (or any sports cars) is worse then crack, once you get started, you cant stop LOL!
