Current 350Z owner looking to trade up to a G37S Coupe
Hey guys, just a little background on me...I have had a 2006 Nissan 350Z 5AT for 5 years now and am looking to upgrade and change it up a bit. I am looking at a G37S coupe because it is a logical step up. I have seen them going for mid 20's now with pretty low miles. I'm thinking it might be the time to trade in now.
Please convince me further to make the trade because I will miss my Z. I just wanna hear everyone's take on why or why not, etc.
Here are a few pics of my Z as she sits now:

Your Z looks really nice. I went from a modded 03 Z to a G37S cpe 6mt. I had to make this transition because of a new family edition. Why are you looking at trading up? Do you need the back seat, or looking to go a little more "luxury"?
New family addition. Unless you literally changed to a new family edition.
Modded 03 z here as well. You'll miss her....and you'll find yourself scanning autotrader. But I found it was only fun to drive 5% of the time...the G is fun to drive 95% of the time ( unless you live near a track).

Very nice Z...
I had a Z before I moved into the G. I miss it a lot. For me, the sportiness of the Z is what I miss most. The G is considered a "grand tourer" by many around these parts, not so much a "luxury sports car." I went with the G because I thought I would enjoy the mix of refinement and sportiness. However, I now find that I would gladly sacrifice the luxury features of the G for the driving experience of the Z. That's just me.
(I would bet that the opinions of most members here coming from a Z would conflict with my sentiments.)
That is not to say that I do not enjoy my G. It is a constantly evolving project of modifications. With the changes I have made to it, I love my G. But, I think modding a Z would be quite enjoyable, as well. It appears as though you like to modify, too? Although there are many parts available, the aftermarket for the G is not nearly as extensive as that of the Z. You may find yourself missing that.
All in all, I highly doubt you will hate yourself if you choose the G over another Z or something more sporty, but my suggestion would be to really evaluate what you like and what you do not like about your Z and go from there. Changing things up can be nice, as I've learned, but consider everything before you pull the trigger.
Just my $.02. Good luck and have fun...

Thanks guys for the kind words!
As someone said, the Z seems to be fun to drive 5% of the time, while the G 95%. I find the former to be quite true as I cannot speak for the latter.
I daily drive the Z and never track it, and it is obviously a very harsh ride for a daily. I am looking for something more comfortable to drive but still has the quickness and handling if I need it.
To me, I bought the Z because 1) It looks good 2) It is quick and handles well. But that is about it. It is not practical, the interior and its fit and finish is cheap with plastic parts rattling here and there. The G seems to do all of the above well, and now that I am getting older, I am seriously considering it.
Obviously I will need to test drive it first, but I have no doubt I will love it.

Hey cruz, you feel that coconut on the butt dyno?
To o/p, I'm in the same boat. But I think with the added power plus a few mods, you will still be able to get a spors car feel when you want it. I'm waiting on the AWD sport model to arrive locally, but I'm setting aside some cash for intake and exhaust right off the bat. I think I'm going to skip the hfc's, I think I had my fill of that with the Z. Might do sways too, since the exhaust will be dropped.
