The magical "SLIP" light..

Hey, guys, I have an 08 G-coupe 6mt and lately I have noticed that the SLIP light comes on under moderate acceleration in 4th gear only and I am able to repeat it. It does not come on in 3rd or 5th, only in 4th... I doubt I am spinning tires in 4th gear haha. Please let me know if have any info about this. The car works perfect other than that, no lights or anything whatsoever. Thank you!

Maybe a little more info. Does it come on right after the shift or while already in gear nearing red line? Do you still have the original tires on the car?

4th gear is the closest 1:1 ratio where you will get the most hp and tq from the transmission. If your tires are old and lose their traction this can happen if your giving the car some acceleration and means u need new tires asap.

I would take it to the dealership if I were you. if your not spinning then maybe there is a sensor loose or something. I have no clue why it would be doing that.

Take it to the dealership. No way those tires are spinning in 4th. I have 6MT as well and never seen it do it in 4th. I've had my car 2 years 4 months 30,000 miles almost.

This post cracks me up! ^ Maybe with around 600whp you could spin the tires with moderate acceleration in 4th gear...

I had the same thing with my Auto and LM-60's...was on the highway and stepped on it and saw the SLIP light flash twice real fast. I doubt very highly the tires broke loose unless the LM-60 rubber compound introduces a false positive.

If he had bald tires it would be feesible. I did that in my max. I drove my toyo proxies 4 until they were bald and could spin the tires out in 4th gear.

But with new tires and the light is coming on. Yep Dealership

Must be a snow tire thing. Happens on my '09 6MT sedan too but only when snow tires are on. I don't know that I've ever isolated to just 4th gear but it definitely comes on at speeds where I would be in 3rd or 4th at a higher RPM (near torque or power peaks).

I have the same winter tires -1 from stock (225/50/18) and I can make my slip light come on very easily. My guess is the tire compound and maybe the smaller size (rotational differences).
When the 19's are back on, everything is back to normal. I cant go past 4-4500RPM in nearly any gear in my AT without seeing SLIP with the LM-60's.

Does the SLIP light blink or stays on?
If it blinks 2/sec it means the computer detected one tire with lower pressure than the other 3. Not low enough to trip the TPMS but enough to cause a differential in the traction sensor. Check your tires pressure and make sure they're all within 1 PSI.
