is this safe for my car??

ive only had my g for about 2 months, and i brought it brand new, but i already have 7000 miles on it! i was wondering if that is any harm to the g, and this car is a lease and i can drive 15000 miles a year, if i keep drivng at this pace, in a year id be driving 42000 miles! and also i was wondering how much miles you guys have in your car! thanks

How are you driving 3.5k a month, is your daily commute really far? I don't think it would be any harm to the G as long as you keep up the proper maintenance like oil changes by miles and not time obviously. Also since your on a lease you will probably end up paying some outrageous overage fees if you do 42000 miles a year on a 15k mile a year lease. How much per mile is the fee over 15k? Be careful or renegotiate the lease!

Maybe if he leases a second Infiniti they'll eat the miles! J/k highly unlikely, he needs to lease a second G, he'll end up paying that in over mile charges if he turns a lease in with almost triple the negotiated milage.

It's $.25 per mile over the allotment. So based on your estimations you will be driving 27,000 miles extra per year, so that figures out to be $6750 per year , or $562.50 per month. So it might actually be cheaper to pick up a second car.

As long as you do the proper maintenance on it there won't be a problem.

It's not going to hurt your car but milage overage charges will hurt your wallet.

I've had mine for a bit over 2 years and I have a bit over 20,000 miles on mine.

25 cents a mile over.
Best option, save your money to to buy it out at the end of the lease.

I hope you own a business (tax write off), because that's a lot of money you would pay in overages. Yes, cars are meant to be driven, but not when it's costing an extra $6700 per year!!!

OUCH!!!

Safety should definitely not be a concern of yours. The quicker you break your car in the better. Overage is certainly a big deal in your case. I would just plan on buying your car when the lease ends. You're going to pay much more than if you just bought it in the first place, but less than the overage you'll have to pay plus having to buy another car. Just estimate your total cost of ownership for all your options when your lease term comes due, then make your decision. I just did this a few months ago. I lease an '08 Acura TSX for 36 mos, 15K per year. I went over by a whole 15K, so I was at 60K. My payout was pretty high - a little over $18K. My overage was $2,250 (.15 cents per mile). The big kicker (problem) in keeping the TSX was warranty, which ended at 60K. So if anything happened I was screwed. Doing the math on paying the payoff amount, taxes (sucks you pay taxes TWICE when you buy a lease), and purchasing extended warranty - that put me over $21K. Not to mention that I would be at 100K in another 2 years, and who knows what will start breaking then. So I made the decision to put a few more grand in and get an '08 G37S 6MT with 18K miles. I figured I was getting a significantly better car, with warranty.

Now that you have already leased your car.. just drive it the way you want, and do the math when the lease term comes close to an end. By the way, I had Acura knock-off $250 off the overage, so I only had to pay $2K. That made the decision even easier.

Agreed! Maybe a lease wasn't the best idea when driving 30k+ a year
