That G35 is fitted with a functional spoiler because the driver takes his car to the track. "Huge Fail" is actually having so much CF on a car, none of which are functional.

The downforce generated by that spoiler is a function of the area in contact with the air along with other factors

I agree with you to an extent, I was just trying to say that you can't call something designed for a purpose a "huge fail" just because you don't like the way it looks

I strongly disagree with this statement. His parts (yet many people here are not into them) are actually functional because his carbon fiber parts are lighter than stock parts, weight reduction is a very "functional" modification. Although he's not going for performance because his audio and bags will go directly against that, his carbon parts are functional if you are talking about times.

That spoiler looks like it "could" help, but it has to be at speed, and for traction, but it still looks like ****.. And depending what's under his hood it could have done nothing. I'd like to see his times before / after adding that wing.

Adding a lip to a factory bumper doesn't really reduce any weight. How much weight is shaved by swapping the hood to a CF one? Our OEM hoods aren't that heavy if IIRC. OP clearly stated that he's looking into the aesthetics aspect and not functionality which is understandable.

Which is the case on a track isn't it?

but it still looks like ****
One's least concern on a track

And depending what's under his hood it could have done nothing.
And engine performance has nothing to do with the aerodynamics of the car, at X mph that spoiler generates equal downforce whether you're on a stock G35 or a 600whp boosted G35.

well Sam, I do not know the actual weight of the stock trunk, but I'm willing to strongly assume carbon fiber is lighter. Even if it is 2-10lbs it is still lighter, which is still weight reduction. And since 600whp G35 guy your boyfriend, ask him to e-mail you before and after times with that wing and let me see the difference it made. Thanks.

the trunk is a temp.... i just order a full cf trunk with a molded lip spoiler for 1000$ and the system only weighs 50 lbs total so minus a fat btich as a passanger it equals out... spoiler looks like **** but the trunk was bought used with holes so i had to put it on just as a temp for a season so the hoob valence and lip blend but its ok once i get that twin turbo itll make up for it
