Ok, so my wife and I were driving seperately and we both noticed a loud noise at one particular spot in the road. Thinking we ran over a rock or something we didn't give it much thought. Well, today I happen to notice a dime-sized paint chip and dent on my wife's rear door; clearly a shot from a BB gun. With a bad feeling I check my car and sure enough there are TWO small BB marks on my door and rear quarter-panel! I am so pissed right now. WHoever this was could have hit either me or my wife or even out 7-month old daughter in the back seat!

Anyway, I posted pics of the damage and was just wondering if any of you could give me a ball-park estimate on what this is gonna cost me. The damage to the Lexus is worse as the paint totally chipped off but my car has two seperate hits. Thanks for the help guys!

Probably talk to a PDR guy and some touch up paint. Sucks, some kids are complete *******s.

 

*******s, its fixable. id say about about 2-300 for the wife. 4-700 for you in the worst case. if you feel adventerous you can try touching up the lexus with a paint pen, i wouldnt reccomend it though

 

That really sucks! I'd be out looking for those punks.
None of the above methods will be good enough, not even close. PDR is only viable when the paint is not affected. There is too much paint chipped off for just touching up. Each affected area will require repainting the whole area w/blending needed too. This is the only way it won't be noticeable to you.

Don't worry. I filed a police report today. Apparently another guy got hit at the same time and place according to the officer. She said he had a 2010 Acura...

 

this happened this morning north of baltimore. one woman needed medical attention because the door glass shattered into her eye. i hope this isn't becoming a growing problem. i'll be carrying a gun in the car and stopping if i hear any loud noises.

 

Well, just got back from three body shops. They all came in with similar figures. Apparently the entire door and rear quarter panel of my car will have to be repainted/blended with filler used on the dents. Cost: $723.

My wife's car apparently has triple-coat pearlescent paint that has to be done in 3 stages. Both of her doors will need to be painted and blended, again with filler work for the dent. They will also have to remove/replace her clear bra covering over the door edges and door handles. Cost: $667.

So some dumbass POS kid with a BB gun has now cost me $1400 in damages. My deductibles are $500 for each car so thats $1k out of pocket (if I decide to claim it which I am still debating).

 

Whoa!!! I'm in disbelief that there are punks out there doing this kind of crap. I feel your pain and relief that no harm had come to the family.

 

Oh my god man. This is horrible, not the fact that your cars got messed up but the fact that you could;ve got seriously hurt. I own a bb gun these things can do serious damage to people and cars. Glad your ok.
