Anyone driven on a runway?

I work at NAS Jax in NE FL and as I was pulling out of our parking lot adjacent to the runway and taxiways I noticed the gate to apron was open with nobody around. The base is getting ready for the airshow this weekend and the airfield is closed for setup. Couldn't help but wonder how cool it would be to have a few runs down the 8,000 ft runway.

Has anyone had an opportunity to use a runway to play with thier car?

Runway? Don't you want to have some fun in the turns?

we had one just outside of salt lake city called Wendover airport. They did SCCA events out there, was really fun. The tarmac is super sticky but sure did eat up your tires fast.

I don't see the G as the runway type, you have more fun with it on the track

never drove on a runway, but i have driven down a few really long straights (football stadium parking lots, on a non game day)

its a lot of fun, but if you go fast enough for a long period of time, especially if its flat land, you'll get tunnel vision

Would be awesome! But here in Japan land is scarce, so no abandoned airfields...

I never tried it, but it seems a little narrow, not to mention, we might hit one of these skinny a$$ biotches. Just my opinion.

Does anyone know what the G will run on this stock? Is a mile enough to hit our speed limiter?

I think the Texas Mile would be fun. I certainly would do it if I lived closer.

It should be able to get very close if not all the way to the limiter within a mile.

That depends on your limiter, but you'll need well over a mile to hit 150+. In a standing mile, I'd guesstimate you'd hit about 145, give or take a few miles.
