activating rain sensing wipers on 2010 models

I just realized that 2010 models came with automatic rain sensing wipers as opposed to the speed variable wipers. But its never automatically wiped on its own. I have the wiper set to "auto".

I tried putting the stalk on setting 1.......the wiper just keeps wiping rain or not.

glitch? doing something wrong? should i lemon my car?

The rain sensing wipers were only available on the Tech Package... Was not a standard option

It's part of the premium package without tech package on the 09 vert. Having it on auto would do it. I guess not on the coupe premium without tech.

Correct on the 09 it was part of the premium package... For 10 it became part of the tech package...

An infrared light shines on the window from the control unit. if the window if dry then almost off the light is reflected back into the control unit. If the is water on the window the infrared scatters and is not reflected back. The more water on the window the more the light scatters. The amount of infrared light that's scattered determines the speed at which the wipers operate.

2008?

Hello everyone- I am brand new here so hopefully I get this right.

I just bought a 2008 G37S coupe and I am not sure about the rain sensing wiper feature.

I am trying to figure out if my car has rain sensing wipers. I don't 'think' it does because the wipers are active even with no rain on the window. however, there is a sensor on the back side (facing the front window) of the rear view mirror. Assuming that is the sensor, and since I did not buy this car new, I don't know for sure. It could be this isn't the sensor at all, it could be it is the sensor but it's is either not working or not enabled.

Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

Regards, Steve.

I keep them off on my Jaguar too. They are kind of annoying.

Honestly, I don't think I will ever use them if I end up having them. I'm just trying to figure out what that sensor on the back of the rear view mirror is.

Plus I'm a bit of a geek in that I want to know every iota of this car and this is (I think) the last unknown...

Thanks.
