11 year old thread being resurrected. Wonder how many of these owners still own their vehicles

 

I'm at 140,000 ish miles on my 2008 and so far, (knock on wood) no major issues. I'd expect to keep the car another 8-10 years or so. The 0% loan on my wife's car will be done in 2024 so certainly the G won't go before that (baring catastrophic circumstances). The G has filled a nice niche in my driving history where I was more concerned about commuting. Its a fairly comfortable and easy car to drive but isn't really much on luxury or sport performance given the choices available today. I will eventually sell or trade the G in on something along the lines of the CT4-V Blackwing, CT5-V Blackwing, CTS-V, BMW M5 CS or Mercedes E63S. When the time comes, I will decide based on the grin on my face after the test drive.

Ironically, I ran across this vid the other day and although Im not sure Im in line with all the opinions ventured within, it is a good tongue-in-cheek look at sports cars today

 

Mine's 2011 G37 IPL Manual Trans and it has 210k miles and i'm keeping it until it falls aparts.

So far I have replaced Alternator(@200k), Starter motor(which will be replace soon@210k),Clutch (@100k it wasn't clutch issue but I replaced while im changing Clutch Slave cylinder), Water pump(@200k) and New Clutch set w/ Dual mass flywheel(@210k going back to stock clutch set).

Other then above so far running strong!

 

I've got about 40k miles on my G37XS, and it's paid off, so I will be keeping it for a while, probably until it no longer runs. I've been eyeing the M56x and Q70, but most likely I'll wait a bit more. I have a Chevy Malibu to drive during the winter, a Buick Regal my gfs car, and a new Kia Sorrento. So probably keep the G forever. It's still fun car to tool around in, and comfortable.

I assume most people have moved to a Q50, and I would have a Redsport if not for all the problems with those turbos.

 

Have a 2011 with 123k and love it. Would keep until falls apart but looks like air bag fixes will cost more than car is worth. Not crazy about cost of light unit replacements.

 

Kept for a year, insurance was twice what my hard top coupe was

 

I've had mine for over 7 years now. No plans to get rid of it with everything I've done to it. It's my car show car now.

I have another daily now, 2020 M340i xDrive. Absolutely love it.

 

Serious? convertible insurance rates are that high for these cars? Was considering a vert but my fear is if I ever got hit in the rear with the top down, its game over. Car totaled.

 

Convertibles always carry a higher premium than most cars. More expensive to repair, easier to break in (moreso w/ soft tops, but...), and more potential for bodily injury.

Still, having a 'vert is worth every. bloody. penny.

 

I got my 2013 6MT brand new, and kept it garaged & in mint condition. It has proved highly reliable & low maintenance. Only had to replace battery.

It is so much fun to drive, and I plan to keep it for a very long time.

 

I got my 2010 in 2013 and its been a gem. As long as there are no major issues that start costing me out the butt I'll keep it as long as possible. The car has been paid off for 4 years now so I'm in no rush to get another car note plus she is only has 85K+ on the clock so a lot of fun left to be had!

 

My 2012 X coupe has about 145k on it. Car's never given me any major problems and was fun for a while. I'm sure it has some life left in it but I am more than ready to move on. I had intended to buy a Kia Stinger, but that was before the chip-pocalypse and our current age of 0% depreciation on used vehicles. I see 2 or 3 year old cars basically going for their original MSRP.

Was thinking about killing some time this Friday and checking out a few dealerships just to make myself a little more depressed. I like the TLX and Veloster N as well, but the Stinger is the car I really can see myself in.

Test Drove the New Mustang, I thought it looked great standing still. Drove horribly! I mean id never speed in that car for fear of crashing!! My buddy has a new 335i so i was anxious to drive it around while he drove my G, i liked seeing the tuirbo needle move but never felkt connected with the car at all. Maybe it needs a race track? but i appreciate the drama and acceleration FEEL of the G over the BMW. That said i will be keeping her,
