Might let go of the G

Looking for some feedback....I recently took a new job that is based from home so the G sits....and sits.....and sits. I have only racked up about 300 miles in 6 weeks so beginning to think i can't justify the payment. Currently I have 34500 on the Odo and the car is pristine but needs tires. 08 journey sport, platinum graphite/stone, perfect interior, perfect exterior. No NAV or 4ws and its an Auto. I was thinking i could list it for 28-29k now and see what happens or just keep and sell in about 6 months when the mileage looks low for the model year. Thoughts anyone?

Thanks.

Ive been thinking the same thing man. Its a heavy payment for something not being used much. An extra few hundred bucks a month adds up you could take a sick vacation or two a year with that extra money or do whatever you want. Even if the mileage is low, its still depreciating. I would sell IMO

Did you buy the car so you could look good driving to work? To be honest with you I would keep it. Its a great car and will continue to be a very nice looking car. If I were you I would find some time to drive it. Go out to meets or something. But in the end its your money and your car. Its just my opinion not to get rid of it just because your not driving it that much.

Thanks for the feedback. Of course then I am faced with getting something else and do I go cheap and quick on a lease- (GTI maybe?) or older and used so i can pay it off and take advantage of barely putting any miles on it. Currently I MIGHT, just Might put 3 to 5k a year on a car. I have been shopping for early m3's (E46 or well taken care of E36) with decent mileage but impeccable service histories as well as 911's and boxsters. We have a baby on the way to so that further complicates matters but we have a wagon the wife drives (Actually a pretty cool sport passat wagon- 2.0T- fun to drive) never thought i would kind off hate working from home....

With 35k miles and the lack of options on your car I highly doubt 28-29 is achievable.

You're looking at mid 20s.

If you get an E46 M3 you're going to be looking at more maintenance costs and might actually come out even by selling the G....

Look good driving to work? I bought the car to drive it and at the time my position required a 45 min commute one way through some of the best roads and scenery to drive through. As much as i like the G its not something I will keep after the last payment and drive the wheels off of it. I also change may cars every two or three years and so it might be time.

True. Mine has every option besides active steering and only 17k and was thinking 30-31

Like I said, at the end of the day its your money and your car. With a baby on the way it changes things dramaticly. I hope all goes well and keep us updated on what you decide.

maybe but you never know. Most fully loaded cars, in a private sale, do not keep the premium for NAV or 4ws. Actually, the infiniti service rep tells me most (90%) lease cars are not fully loaded and sold cars the same thing. 27k might make more sense for quick sale. Checking Auto trader today, a White G, manual, equipped the same way as mine within 500 miles of my milage is going for 29k on an Audi lot

KBB for mine is about $29K, which is fully loaded minus 4WAS. So yeah, I'd be thinking more in the mid 20's range. I went to Riverside Infinit the other day to get my car appreciated and they offered me $27.3K (and that's WITH the new tires I just put on).

30-31k? Used car market is strong in the MD/DC/N. Va area so low milage makes a difference. I would price it at 32.9k and see what happens. Here is an example. We just sold a 2007 Volvo XC90 5 seat base model for 21.5. The truck had low miles, only 32k and instead of turning in the lease we put it in the trader and had 5 people call, 3 test drive and two offers at the same price within two weeks. So, considering we owed 17.8 at turn in if we wanted to buy, we made 3k off of that poorly made Ford/Volvo marriage product.

Not bad, so they would put it on the lot CPO and add about 3 to 4 k to it to price it at 30.5k to 31.5k. A private sale of 29k would net you nearly 2k. I would take that.

From a guy who used to own the following pre-baby:
Boat, Motorcycle, Dune Buggy ... keep the G if you have a car to haul baby around. it will be a lLONG time before you can get any new toys so keep it it as long as you can, But that's easy for me to say .... good luck

I can tell you from experience, you are losing money letting it sit.
especially if you have a little one on the way.
my wifes lease is up in a month & just got laid off.
as long as you have decent transportation, get rid of it.
paying for a car to sit is a waste of $$.
my parents have an 08 coupe with 7k miles on it what a waste of money.
