Anyone else rethinking their BLACK interior?
Anyone else rethinking their BLACK interior?
I'm from Augusta, GA, and in the summer months when the G sits outside and I get in after a few hours, the interior gets HOT. I have to actually turn on the car and let it cool down for a good 10 minutes before get in because the steering wheel and seat are literally too hot to touch.
Let me just say that I really like the G's interior and prefer it over even the BMW interiors, but I was wondering...has anyone else had made a decision to make their next interior something other than black because of how friggin hot it gets in there?
I think that I may get a sun visor for the front of the car for when it's parked.
As a side note, I was wondering if anyone had tried a leatherique treatment on their leather? I just ordered some and was wondering about the results other G owners have experienced with the products. I also use 303 Aerospace Protectant for sun protection.

tint it to at least 20%, use a sun shield, and for the leather use these

I've had a variety of cars with black interiors and a few with beige and gray interiors. They all get hot in the summer sun. I think it's more of a mental thing with people when it comes to thinking black interiors are so much hotter than lighter colors. I'd bet the real difference is negligible...

I have a black interior with (legally) tinted windows in Florida, and that combined with a fitted sunshade keeps the interior manageable during the 90 degree heat.
The other thing that helps quite a bit on the G is the air conditioning, which I find to be exceptional. It blows cool air almost immediately regardless of the heat in the cabin, and blows COLD air within a minute or so.
If the law where you live doesn't allow for tint (or you just don't want it), consider holding down the unlock button on your key fob a few minutes before you go out to the car so the windows can lower and air out the car. You might also want to consider a remote start system to allow the car to cool down for a few minutes before entering.

Sometimes I wish I would have gotten black interior. Don't get me wrong, the stone is a great color, but it's a true pain to keep clean.
At this point I would bare the hot summer days to have darker interior.

Not for a second, never even crossed my mind in the slightest. And I live in Houston. Man up!
Tint does and will help though.
P.S. - Yes I use 303 too for UV protection. But I use lexol as conditioner/cleaner.

Every once in a while I forget to put up my sun shade and I get in the car and the seat burns the shizzit out of my back. I live in FL so it can be brutal but I would not consider changing them to another color.
