Well cause you live in Japan which is short on space and has a rotating garage =P. I'm in Korea right now they have the same garage.

To O.P well there is nothing wrong with parking your car outside but it depends on the neighborhood you live in. I to like you had a full garage and couldn't park my car in the garage but since I lived in a good neighborhood my car didn't get messed with while it took me to clean out my garage.

Unfortunately, I do park the G outside. But, I'm currently in the process of turning our garage back into a usable garage, so I'll be able to park the G inside. Almost as importantly, I'll be able to work on my car inside(garage is A/C'ed). I feel like I'm committing a sin right now by parking her outside. It seems wrong. And right above our driveway are two enormous pine trees which are constantly covering our cars in pine needles, pollen and sap.

On a side note:
At work, I have always parked in this certain spot at the very end of the lot. Right above this parking spot was a giant dead tree. I liked the odds of that better than parking next to people who would ding up my doors. Well I came to work monday morning to find a 200-300 pound tree top laying in my parking space. Talk about lucky. Glad it fell on the weekend.

wow...I'm SO happy to hear that didn't happen when you were parked there! As I was reading I thought you were gonna say you saw it on top of your car and I started to get sad haha

The first time I saw those ferris wheel type garages was when I was in Sapporo for the snow festival. Looks so cool, reminded me of the movie
iRobot

Our garage at home is actually in our backyard, but I have an awning type roof over it to protect from the sun.

I’m sure most of us would prefer to park our car indoors but understand some owners just have no choice. In a related sense, I’ve found that one of the biggest challenges of home ownership is not taking up garage space with a lot of junk, forcing us to park outside. With my wife being sort of a pack rat through the years, I’ve had to install overhead storage racks and additional shelving around the perimeters, but am still able to park our cars in the garage. However, I’m keenly aware that the struggle is never over.

My wife's side of the garage is packed with cr@p. My side is spotless.
