Sport vs Non-Sport models - Mechanical

I'm curious to know what are the mechanical differences between the sport model G37 and the Journey model.

I know the Sport has the BBK, maybe larger wheels from the factory, a different front bumper as well as a host of interior amenities but are there any differences in the engine or transmission?

Are the engines identical? Same performance? Same transmission gearing? etc. Can you effectively convert a Journey to a Sport model by swapping out a few parts?

Just curious.

Pretty sure the suspension is different as well.

As far as engine internals, same stuff.

I know Jeff Oh (I don't know what his username is here I forgot lol) ran a 13.7 at Englishtown in his stock Journey.

I think they are mechanically the same but wasn't sure. This would mean the S designation it only for cosmetic and convenience (not counting the BBK).

Thanks for the comprehensive list. Of the above, many are cosmetic and convenience but you do point out several that I would loosely call mechanical.

I see Sport-tuned suspension, VLSD, 19" wheels, 14.7:1 Sport tuned steering gear, and BBK. Nothing in the engine or transmission.

Also I think the sport version has a higher max speed due to higher rated tires. Doubt many have had the opportunity to test that.

they all have the same governor on them, but maybe the S has a "safety rated" higher speed

According to members, the autos seem to stop around 142...whereas the 6MTs stop around 155. BB said he got his up to 160. That's the fastest I've seen posted so far.

I stand corrected, I thought they all were the same...hmm that's interesting, seems it would be more cost-efficient to just make them all the same

I wonder if the difference has more to do with the gearing.
