G37S appreciation thread...

Man... ever since I got the windshield squeek repaired, my love for this car has sky rocketed! I had been so disappointed for the months that I had that squeek that I began to miss my old G35 coupe that I had traded for this.

But now... man, I can finally focus on just driving this machine! I keep the stereo low or completely off just to hear the rumble of the engine, the exhaust, tires... fantastic machine IMO!

Are there better cars? Of course!!

But for the $35K I paid for the car ($2K under invoice), this was a steal in hindsight!

Really no interior squeeks/noise, great engine, great exhaust note... perhaps not the most nimble or tight - but what a car.

I sit here on my PC tonight thinking about whether or not I should've splurged on an M3 or a Cayman S when I was in the market for a new car 9 months ago... but, though those are technically better cars, I have to feel blessed that I had the means to purchase a good value car like the G37S. In this economy, the fact that I don't have to scrape to pay for something that quickens my pulse is a great thing.

I hope many of you reading this can relate... it is truly a good car.

I thank God for the car I drive everytime I hit that start button. It truly is one of the best decisions I've ever made in life, I'd do it again in a heart beat.

@joey_v: very well said. I went from a 5 series to a G37 coupe and haven't looked back. I put a deposit down on a G35 coupe in 2004, but didn't pull the trigger. This car is the total package--hard to find anything else on the market that does so many things so well.

We (wife and I) absolutely love ours. For the money you can't do much better. No it doesn't have the best 0-60 numbers out there, it doesn't have the best torque numbers out there but it aint shabby. Depending on where you live, 19 out of 20 times, when you stop at a red light you are the fastest car around. Combine the very decent specs with a truly bitch'in shape, great interior and you get the looks and feel good about it. Now if you have 60-70k to spend you can do better so don't compare those cars to the G. My wife drove her second level manager the other day to a meeting, he is a Lexus and a Porsche owner and he was impressed. We love our G and would highly recommend it and very deffinitly get another one. In our area, I have yet to see another G37 Coupe on the road, two G35's but no G37's. I sometimes just look at it sitting in the garage in admiration.

Hey Joey_v, how did you fix the squeek? There is only 3 things wrong with my G. The windshield squeek, my clutch pedal needed to be lubed (which I did myself, no thanks to infiniti) and my back windshield also makes a pop sound all when the temperature goes down.

I've also experienced the "check engine" for the faulty gas cap. Warranty covered that so no complaint there.

Otherwise, I love the car as well. My friend, who's the sales manager of the local infiniti here in Canada, him and I have driven the G and the 335i back to back. Even though the 335i is faster, the G puts more of a smile on our faces. My brother has a '07 G35 and I've got the '08 G37S, gotta love both cars! Hehe, ya, I laugh at his small brakes compared to our nice Infiniti 4 pot/2 pot setup.

I absolutely LOVE my G. It is one of the best decisions I have ever made, totally worth the wait of saving for it

No problems with it this far, and even if there were some, I think I would love the car just as much. I have a blast working on it and a blast driving it, every time.

Only had the G37S for one month but so far loving it. Last car was a FX35 which had O problems in the five years I owned it. (Even still had the original battery)
After reading all the negative threads I was a little anxious about buying the G37S but so far no regrets. Went for a drive along Mulholland Highway last weekend and took a trip up the "twisties" to the lookout point. On one corner all the photographers hang out hoping for a shot of a bike crashing, and as I went by they were all taking pics of the G . So fun car, looks good, drives good, and trouble free so far.

The G is definately not the sportiest car i could have owned, and i didn't buy it to be. I came from a track ridden and modded 350Z that was so great to drive in the twisties and the track but was a pain almost any other time. i couldn't handle the vibrations, the noise, lack of space, and harshness as the years went by. At the time I was a punk kid at the bottom of the company food chain. i didn't care, i lived with a mindset of no compromise. but guess what? you're not a kid forever. there comes a time when you just feel wrong playing with your Voltron robot lion set as you do the voices from the cartoons and find yourself at the ripe age of 32...sometimes it's time to move on.

when you're in the track you feel your hands clentch the steering wheel tighter, the seats grab at your kidneys, you live by evey rumble, vibration, and feedback the road hits you.....and the attack on the senses is pure heaven on the track. but with my Z it was like that ALL THE TIME. getting groceries, going to work, picking up A friend (since you don't even have room for midgets in the trunk). The G doesn't even put you close to my Zs limits...but I can honestly say I LOVE driving the G more of the time than i did my Z. for a portly 3700 lbs. it has a great linear power band (my Z had great tq but didn't zing to redline like the VHR) and freeway cruising it pulls like a train. the adjustable sports seats hug you in any way you like and there is actually room behind you for 2 fit adult women (no fatties though, and why would you want to?). many people like the styling of the G35 coupe but having the curvier lines and wider fenders make the G seem more sophisticated and...'grown up'. i won't go as far as saying the look is timeless, but up till now i still get compliments from strangers. the sport suspension is stiff compared to a Lexus IS350...but it certainly is more pleasureable to drive around in than my Z. the G has that dampening and stiffness to give you a good amount of control while leaving your kidneys and tailbone intact. my Z would punish you just to go the post office. i have to admit the 335i was my 1st choice...but in the end the $8000 premium for a car with lesser options (and questionable reliability ie fuel pumps, ecu issues, etc.) had me choose the more familiar VQ...even though now it was a VHR. besides, i live in los angeles / ventura county....you know how many bmw 3 series i see everyday? at least 20...litteraly.

some people like the sports car feel...hardcore everything ALL THE TIME. nothing wrong with that, i used to be one of them. i think i just grew old along the way and wanted more compromise. because lets face it, there are times when you need to fit two adult women in the car.

btw--Voltron Rocks!

You are absolutely 100 percent right.. i have wanted other cars since owning the G and gazed at others with jealousy, but i have absolutely 0 ZERO regrets in purchasing the G last November. im 100% in love with it and i honestly plan on keeping it forever, in 200,000 miles, when the mods are done, and it finally dies ill prep it and store it to show everyone what my first car was. I LOVE THIS CAR!!!

Six months and 10,000km my G is in storage for the winter. It has been running great without any rattle or noise (except the growl from the exhaust pipes).

From my point of view, the G represents great value and I enjoy driving it. I have confidence in Infiniti quality.

I love my G!
This is my 4th G... Traded the first sedan, lost 1 to hurricane, lost 1 to an idiot driver.
I hope to keep this one a few years and will probably buy another later on...
This G is a well balanced machine; dollar for dollar there is no better deal as fun and sexy as this!!!

New G37S coupe

I picked up my G37S, black on black, only six days ago and finally drove it yesterday after the temperatures were above freezing. I am very pleased with the way this car performs after having purchased this car over a BMW 335 coupe- similar performance with a more reasonable price tag and hopefully less expensive maintenance schedule after the warranty expires. Also, I like the fact that there are significantly fewer G37S coupes on the road relative to 3 series BMW's, which have aparently become a dime dozen up here.

You know the car is great looking when you get a thumbs up from a gentleman in his late 50's cruising beside you on the highway in a Subaru WRX.

The weather in Toronto, Canada is a little cool in December for the stock Bridgestone summer tires and I will be parking it for the winter with 6" of snow in the forecast over the next few days. My 2001 5 series BMW has now become my winter car which I will be unloading in the Spring.

Its sure going to be difficult when I walk in the garage everyday looking at my new car which I have to wait until Spring to drive again. This car is going to be enjoyable drive. Spring can't arrive soon enough!!
