<Rattle><Groan><Squeak>

Well my G is almost 1.5 years old and only 11k miles and the things sounds like a perverbial trash dumpster lid being opened and closed. I now have an annoying squeak from the dashboard area that has developed over the last few days and the on-going rattle from the sunroof area that the dealer has yet to find/fix.

I am really disappointed by the "quality" that Infiniti has put into this product of theirs. They claim to be on the level of Lexus or BMW, but honestly guys if my car is any indication of their standard production quality it is far from those prestigous marques.

People always rag on American quality, but I persoanlly owned a GMC Jimmy that lasted ten years that NEVER had the noise for rattles et al that this $42,000.00 car has. Would I recommend this car to a family member or friend? Well maybe, if they put the engine in a Lexus quality body.

Sorry for the rant, but this really is something I would have never thought would have been an issue. I plan on writing a letter to Infiniti detailing the things I have outlined here.

I have to agree with you on the sunroof rattle, they had my headliner removed yesterday at Glendale Infiniti for 2 hours and could not figure out where the noise was coming from. I told them to just put the headliner back on i dont have all day to wait. I might call Infiniti Corporate and tell them about this problem, because it isnt just me its a lot of others too.

I had a rattle coming from the back... and then I realized it was because the backseats weren't locked in. Lol.

Find a high end car audio shop in your area -- they deal with interior parts so much that they can find and fix anything. Dealer mechanics generally aren't good at that kind of stuff.

My 08 had that windshield popping noise sometimes; this 09 has a strange long eeeeeeEEEEEEK, sound that it does when turning right or left and the road is going down; like in a parking garage ramp turn etc.
I decided to live with it rather than have the car torn all apart; maybe someday I will try to find it myself and see what can be done.

I appreciate the info-but should I being paying for imperfections that should not have been an issue in the first place?

Oh yeah - My 04 had no squeaks or rattles up to 90+ thousand miles when hurricane Ike killed it.
The 04 was so fun I would trade this 09 instantly to have it brand new again with 7 miles... Honestly! 80's orange dashboard and all!
Something about the 04 was just more fun and it seemed much lighter and agile to drive.

Wow .... our 08 Journey Coupe is very quiet, none of the complaints listed above. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

I feel the same way. My sunroof rattle has been there for good year (out of my one year and 4 month ownership). I'm starting to notice another rattle (maybe dashboard) that I still yet to diagnose. This is an addition to my seat buble and the leather they use in our cars. My seat shows more wear in my 1.5 years of ownership than my friend's 10 year old BMW.

Last week I also noticed (on 3 occasions) very loud engine noise / idle. I think this has to do with switching away from Nissan's ester oil and using synthetic (this is my first oil change w/out ester). I have been a big fan of Nissan/Infiniti over the past years - these are the cars that I have purchased new:
starting with 2003.5 G35 sedan
2004 Nissan Pathfinder SE
2007 Infiniti G35 coupe
2008 Infiniti G37 coupe

but I think this will be my last Nissan. I have always been a big fan of german cars but could not justify the price tag.

I have no rattles whatsoever. I thought I had the sunroof rattle but then realized it was the sunglasses in the overhead storage.

I'm a happy camper.

All cars have rattles and squeaks, German, Japanese, and American. There has not been a single car that I have been in that did not make some kind of noise.
