Cup holder cover issue

The cover for my cup holders usually stays open but I decided to close it today and realized that it doesn't open and close when you push on the front of it like it used to (like a spring action). It just kind of lays down now and I have to push the back of it for it to open back up. This is not a big deal really but was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and knows a quick fix. Thanks.

It's supposed to be spring loaded? Mine is just a garage door style thing you move yourself.

The 6MT version cupholder is different than those with an AT. Mine has this problem too, mainly when it's cold out. It will hardly open at all if not get stuck completely. Since it's summer and warm out, I've had no problems.....but if it does it again this winter, I'm taking it in for warranty.

That's interesting because I would think that the spring would wear faster with the door always closed as that is the state which there is a load on the spring. For that reason I don't think the spring is bad. I think the spring may be have came out of place (perhaps). Either way it sounds like an easy fix and warranty work. Good luck.
