Bike rack adapter kit for G37/G35
Bike rack adapter kit for G37/G35
Bike rack adapter kit for G37/G35, designed to work with the Rocky Mounts Pitchfork
After months of searching for a solution, I finally had a discrete bike rack fabricated for my G37. The main mount is heavy duty, made of 3/16" plate steel, slides behind the rear license plate, and has dual 1" square receivers extending just below the license plate. The bike is secured with a Rocky Mounts Pitchfork roof rack tray mounted at 90 degrees. Twin 7/8" solid steel bars are bolted to the tray. The bars slide into the receivers and are secured with two bolts. With zero side-to-motion and minimal fore/aft motion, the setup is superior to any hitch mount bike rack. The final look is exceptionally clean. When mounted, the bike appears to float behind the car. When not mounted, the two receivers peer below the license plate, I color matched the paint, so it's not really noticeable.
The base plate requires four 3/8” holes drilled into the G37/G35 aluminum bumper. The holes are behind the license plate, so they are never noticeable. Basically, this design will work for any car where the license plate is mounted in front of a metal bumper.
The kit is solid. Didn’t budge when the 180 lb. welder stood on it! Will fit either a road bike or a mountain bike.

I looked into the roof rack option. It is an excellent solution, but I just could not bear the roof rack spoiling the sporting lines of the G37 (and also did not want to forget to remove the bike before entering the garage).
Here is mine, not as nice when its racked as yours is but when the rack is off its virtually invisible unless you get under the car. And when I go to Newport or up North, I take both my mtn and road bikes, I can get three bikes on there although it can be a bit flimsy, I strap the rack around the trunk and its very stable.

Looks great though!

Infinite G37S: Really like how the hitch receiver is mounted. If I had to do it again, I would consider your method. However, would still go with a dual receiver set up, the yaw action (side to side motion) on a single receiver drove me nuts on my last installation (even with heavy duty hardware). Also like the bike!
That is really really awesome! Sick bike too man... It even looks like the bike came with the car!!! Just one question, obv the bike is redic light, but do you think with a heavier non-road bike that it would be secure with simply the bottom fastening system that i see in the pic?
Vimish, the way my receiver works is it has a bolt that goes through it, clearly visible in the second picture and its not too bad, the problem I have is with the up and down due to the bumper flex. With just 1 bike on, its not bad but any more and it gets a significant amount of movement.
And your bike is sick, matches the car perfect. Thats why I got a white mtn bike but got such a good deal on my carbon Cannondale Synapse. There was a white Cannondale Super Six that was white with purple flake that matched PERFECTLY but I liked the riding position and the look of the Synapse more. What kind of group are you running?
