T.T Somebody key-ed my front hood
Insurance in canada is the same as elsewhere: they take your money, you get screwed. Think about it, they're a business trying to make money. So mathematically, on the whole, you must be losing money. Getting insurance is basically betting against yourself. The only time you get anything from them is when something terrible has happened to you.

You are so incorrect. If you feel insurance is not worth it and from your post is deemed useless, then don't get insurance. Post a Surety Bond on yourself which will cost next to nothing, therefore, you satisfy your loan requirement and if "Something Catastrophic" happens, you pay for it yourself.. your G gets stolen or totalled, you pay the $40,000 or whatever you paid; There is ALWAYS an alternative to insurance, just many people prefer not to deal with the consequences IF something catastrophic happens, hence, the reason for purchasing insurance...
But then again, if you you are able to post a $40,000 Surety Bond, then you would have the money to pay off your loan, therefore not needing insurance and only needing PIP insurance or lowest required by law.
So in the end, You need insurance just as long as you decide to have a loan on your car. (Lease is considered a loan).
You are only losing money when you decide to waste it. Many others would feel you are wasting money driving a car $25,000 more than the average American...
