Who cares, I'll sacrifice a negligible amount of performance to have something more fun to drive.

What's fun for you may not be fun for someone else. Just saying.

I have a 5 speed with paddle shifters. Before buying it, the dealer let me took home a 6 speed demo for a day. I don't know what you guys are trying to say about the 5 speed feeling faster... I think the 6 speed is much faster than the 5 speed. I shifted at close to redline to 2nd gear with the 6 speed and the rear tires chirped for traction.

BTW, Even on paper 0-60/quarter mile the 6 speed wins.

There is no significant acceleration difference between the 6sp and 5sp. There are many tests all over the place that show them both on par with eachother. Certainly one is not not "much" faster than the other LOL.

As far as why the 5sp feels faster off th eline- that's because of the high stall tourque converter. It puts you closer to the sweet spot even in normal acceleration.

It is easier to launch the 5sp more consistently than the 6sp. So at the drag strip the 5sp will likely get more consistent times. The best results on the 5sp just comes from turning off VDC and slamming the pedal. The 6sp requires some perfected techniques to get its best times. On the street most 6sp drivers wont be able to take a 5sp.

a couple of older comparisons

I am betting that the 7sp will improve 1/4 mile by a couple of tenths. 1st and 2nd gear are really agressive.
