no G for me
no G for me
Ha Ha- that is a G 35 sedan.
Guys what follows are a few questions-please put up with me. I dumped my g35 C in 2004 but.....
So I had my fx 45 in for routine service. LOVE that car (hate the fuel mileage)- my second one. I been thinking about downsizing because of fuel costs. Ok- so they lend me a 2008 35x to drive- kept a couple of days- had 25K on the odo so really aired it out. My impressions were: great acceleration at any speed, great looks, great sound system, BUT sterile, numb steering feel (although great handling) and the most crappy engine noise this side of the rockies (compared to my stock wonderful v8 sound it was a complete *****). Absolutely a great car that left me cold. Total shock. No love.
Get the 45 back and glad the eff to get it back. So today wake up with a headache and say that loaner was a ringer or maybe the G37c will bring me some love.
So went back to Infin and said let's go on an extended drive. Took out an 08 Journey with sport (will not buy manual because of shoulder).
Let me say one effin thing- OMG.
Let's go thru it shall we:
Incredible steering communication. I test drove the mother of all communications last nite (no not the Bimmer but the EVO X) and while it was phenomenal and less body roll than the 37 I liked the medium heavy weight of the G. The EVO X was a tad to light for me.
But here is the killer- the exhaust tune to me was about as v8 as a NA 6 is going to get.
So now we are cruising so I feel bad for the guy who is going to buy this car so I only take in 3rd up to 6grand rpm and the sound just got better. Can't believe what that thing sounds like at redline.
My negative comments are few- not in love with the interior- it's not cheap but for me the interior of interiors was the 70-80 porsches. But I think most interiors today are boring especially Bimmers.
So here are a few questions:
1) My head was close to the roof. I believe I had the seats as vertically low as they could go. I am only 6'. Any experience with taller people?
2) Was the difference between the sedan and the couple the awd or is it something in the way they designed the 37?
3) The salesmen actually was so low key he asked if I would like to test an 09 when they came in (sometime in the next 6 weeks he said) and I said yes. Reason- it should get better gas mileage on highway than 08. Correct or I am full of it??
Anyway I think I found a replacement for my beloved fx45 and I will do my diligence on the price to see where I land.
BTW- I have a clean 05 with 55 on the odo and they said 17-18K. Checked with a wholesaler friend of mine who I have gone to auction with and he said: "You have a gas guzzler. Gas is going up over 4 again. Anymore explanation".
Appreciate any feedback.

I'm 6'5" and I can get quite comfy in my 37s. Although i have to admit i know when its time to get a haircut. My wife and i are lucky enough to enjoy a few different vehicles but in our 2 recent trips back and forth to Seattle, I chose the G! Myself, the wife and our 2 Weiner dogs had big smiles on our faces all the way up and back! Just set the seat low, lean it back a tad a bump the wheel up a bit and your off! To me, its almost like lumbering in a zero gravity lounge chair with wheels and horsepower!
P.S If you can afford it, Ya might want to keep the FX around as a second ride. Ya never know, you might wann'a haul something! That way you can always sell it for a little more private party and you don't take it so bad in the shorts on the trade in.

I am 6'2. My g has a sunroof and I fit fine and even have 3-4 inches of headroom. It's all about seat position and whether most of your height is in your lefs or torso. I think you would fit fine, so get the G37 coupe and ROCK IT!!
