I just don't like the fact rain leaves a blackish streak running from down the mirrors on the door panels if the car is slightly dirty.

Wax causes the water to bead and slide off the vehicle....

Wax = protection from your paint. Especially if you let water from a wash or rain dry on there, it'll have to etch through the wax/sealant before it start hurting your clear coat.

Best bet, pay the $100-150 to have a pro detailer prep and protect your vehicle, and let him educate you on how to best car for it in the easiest manner possible given how much time you would spend on it.

Check places like autopia.org to find a good pro/semi-pro detailer.

Handwash your car, or pay a detailer, a lot of them will come to your work or home wash your car twice a month for a modest charge.

If you have water mark problems, dude WAX YOUR CAR wtf, this is like 'Im on fire and it hurts, it sucks guys' when you're right next to a bucked of water.

Give it a good wax before every season changes, your cars finish will be great.
yes i would think about doing it if there wasnt a FCKING construction site right next to my house in all directions T_T i wash my car, leave it out for about an hour and BAM dust everywhere... and i dont even know how to wax/polish a car

I started having the same problem at the OP right AFTER I got it waxed professionally. Before wax it would just drip off. Now it takes a good 5x longer to dry because of all the water that stays on the car and leaves horrid dirt marks. Never waxing again thats for sure, sealant ftw.

I've got sealant and I wax my car often, but I also get water spots if the car dries in the sun and it's parked.
I wonder if acid rain can make it worse in certain parts of the country?

I think the bigger issue is both the dissolved crap in the water itself, as well as the particulate matter like pollen and exhaust soot that comes down and dries on your car.

One thing is for certain though, if you keep your car waxed/sealed, cleaning those water spots off is much easier. (not to mention makes your G look sleek while keeping your finish nice)
