OMG My G37 does NOT have clear coat
easiest way to find out is using a white rag and some wax cleaner or scratch remover.. Wipe a small area in circular motion for a couple minutes.. If you see some pink residue on the rag, then ur car has no clear coat...
I would try the area the bodyshop didn't touch to do the testing.

In my previous life, I was a shop foreman for a large Toyota dealer. It is 100% factual that Toyota did NOT use clear on the Red cars/trucks. My dad also stil owns an 88 SC MR2 which will turn any rag red on wax day...
I do not recall if this was the same for white or not.
I also do not recall why this was....getting too old to remember back that far
