Scratches on Rear Quarter glass?

Went to get my windows tinted and the tinter pointed out some scratches on the drivers side rear quarter window. I had him tint it anyway hoping it wouldn't show but it looks really bad. Now I have to get the tint removed on that window, get the glass replaced, and get it re-tinted. Fortunately the car is only a week old so I don't think there'll be any problems.

If I had to take a guess I'd say that one of the "detailers" for the prep left his ring on. Anyone else have problems like this?

Holy ****!! I have the same problem!! I had my windows tinted 1 week after delivery and the tinter pointed out scratches on my rear passenger side quarter window. I had him finish the tint and brought it to the dealer. The service manager says the tinter did it, the tinter assures me he didn't. They're now working together to get it rectified for me. Window replacement entails a week at the dealership and having the headliners removed. Don't really want my 2 week old car torn apart!! So they are looking into finding a window technician that specializes in scratch removal. Luckily it's on the passenger side and you can only see them in certain light. Very disappointing. Did you take yours back to the dealer and if so what was the solution?? I still can't believe someone else has the same exact problem!!

I had the SAME exact problem. about a inch and a half of a hairline kind of scratch?!?!?

this is weird.. i was thinkin about posting this up but i was like nah, nobodys gonna know what im talkin about.

let me know what you did...

i dont want to tear the car apart either. I called my salesman that i bought the car from, and he said that theres no stickers that were removed from that window, and theres no way a scratch could have been there. It must have been by the tint guy also, but i was assured it wasnt.

I forgot to mention i had two of these hairline scratches, but the 2nd time the tint guy put the tint on, it was less noticeable..so i just thanked him and left.

Nope, not me. Wow, kinda makes me glad I was so antsy to get the car home. It was just off the truck, not even the one I test drove. The showed it to me after test driving another car, I said peel off the plastic protection on the outside, take of the plastic wrap inside and I'm taking it home. I didn't let them even wash it.

You don't really need to replace the window. If it's just a scratch, you can wetsand that shlt right out. Starting from a high grade and slowly working to a fine grain sandpaper. Then finishing it off with some polish or high abrasive compound like those stratch x...

Had the same thing on mine. Went to La Tint who is awesome in northern va and the manager retinted the driverside rear passenger glass because he thought the tint was scratched. Its about a 3 inch hairline scratch that is really noticeable when the tint is on. I have had him do many cars for me over the years and know that he did not do this and I have not had anything or anyone in the back of the car since I have owned it. I think it is installers at the factory now that so many are having this.

This is just too coincidental to be a tint installation issue. I think we all need to bring it up with our dealers service managers so that Infiniti does know about it and possibly a TSB will be issued if more people come forward.

I agree with you. My car was only a week old when it was tinted and I have never used my backseat either. My service manager's rationale was that the scratches are only on the tintable surface and don't extend under the interior window liner therefore it had to be the tint installation. The window tinter is willing to have it fixed and re-tinted for me, we're in the process of finding an experienced, highly qualified window repair technician. I'll post an update when I hopefully get it fixed!!

Wow, now you guys are trippin me out. I'll be checking my car when I get home tonight. I never noticed any scratches on my rear windows, but then again, I never thoroughly examined them. I did notice a couple small bubbles from my tint, but they were hardly noticeable....pics anyone?

I will try to post a pic. They usually show up like a sore thumb when the car is sitting in the garage or under certain light conditions outdoors. Luckily it is on the passenger side so I don't have to look at it every time I walk up to the car, but I know they're there, which sucks!! With a brand new car you want to be able to walk all the way around and not have scratches!! I have maybe 1 or 2 very small bubbles left on the rear window because it is so hard to squeegee down by the brake lamp area. There was about 30 bubbles when he first did the tint but I've been keeping it in the sun this week and most have settled away.
