Grinded..

Hey guys.. Has anyone else grinded their second gear while at higher rpm's? I've grinded twice now while shifting fast..

Also does anyone feel as if their third gear "feels" as it grinds when going into the gear fast?

Maybe i'm shifting too fast?

What do you guys think?

Try pushing the clutch in. That should eliminate it.

^lol. But being serious. I don't have that problem either. Just try and not shift to fast and see if it makes a difference.

1. Make sure you are fully pressing the clutch pedal. As in, to the floor.

2. If you try to force to gear you will beat the synchro and it will grind.

WOT, Off gas, Clutch all the way down, pressure towards second, off clutch, WOT. It can take a pretty fast shift but it's no RSX type-s or anything.

You dont ever have to press the clutch to the floor.

i think you were just shifting too fast. i mean, because you did it too fast, you tried to shift BEFORE you stepped on the clutch.

i agree, you never have to step on the clutch all the way to the floor. 1/2 or 3/4 of the way is fine. as long as it goes in without any grinding noise, it's ok.

Sounds like your clutch wasn't fully engaged while switching gears.

Plus, you should let the tach fall a bit more during your 1st to 2nd shift. I once used to think shifting fast was cool too.

False. If you "dont ever" have to then it wouldn't have that much travel. The engineers are not idiots.

You can press it just barely and 95% of the time you will be fine, but that one time you miss second and grind -- that wouldn't have happened if you pressed it all the way down.

Lots of factors play into how much you must press the clutch pedal down and there's no way you can possibly predict how far will be necessary at any given time, so I just press it all the way. It takes minimal time to kick it off the floor and back in a fast shift so why risk it. I've been bitten too many times by the random need for more travel than usual.

Haven't grinded mine yet.
Although I have stalled a few times. *embarassing*
The only grinding I do is at the clubs.
