Angry Why We Can't Have Nice Things II

So I drove into work yesterday (not a normal thing, but I had an early morning meeting), and as I was leaving work, some stupid woman thought it would be a good idea to turn left in front of me. Aside from the fact that the person making a left turn is generally at fault, and that she was turning from an incorrect lane, it was an illegal left turn.

So we swap info (after she calls 911 to get the phone number for the police - WTF?), and she pops into her car and leaves. I get into mine, and realize in about three seconds that something is off, since my car is unable to go straight. When I looked at it head on, I saw what it was: while the driver's side front wheel is straight, the passenger side wheel is out at a 45 degree angle.

Of course, this is the day I forgot my cellphone at home, so I have to wait and flag down a police officer (thankfully, the park I work in is a high crime area, so we have lots), then have him park behind my car with his lights on so that no one hits it, as I was near a bend in the road, and it's likely someone wouldn't see it in time to brake. Because police officers driving by like to visit with their police officer friends, I soon have multiple cars/horses around my car. All of this happening in plain site of my boss's window, while coworkers drive by. This morning someone asked if I had been booked by the police, so apparently I've gained some street cred.

My car is like a magnet - there was also a hit and run incident in December. Argh! I'll take photos and post them when I get to the body shop, but I'm now getting a little concerned about diminished value for the car.

Stupid women drivers.

Stanley Park. Stanley Park drive is one way, with two lanes. I was in the left lane, she was in the right and she decided (???) to make a left turn into a no-entry parking lot, directly across the path of my vehicle. Apparently she didn't see me because her car "has a large blind spot and gets into accidents that way."

This is why the horses, as Stanley Park police have stables since it's a better way to patrol the park. I had even gone a slightly different route since I had seen them, and wanted to drive by the officers to see what type of saddle they were using, since I wanted a new saddle for trail riding.

As is mine (see OP). There are people who work in the park, although to be fair most of them make their living from stealing change out of ashtrays.

Women are involved in accidents more frequently than men.

Men cause signifcantly more damage ($$$) when they are involved in an accident.

Personally, I think that women are worse drivers than men. This is based on my totally scientific analysis which consists of:

a. drivers who tend to **** me off are usually women
b. drivers who hit my car tend to be women

I'm now driving an über sexy Corolla. I actually have a bit of a soft spot for them, but it has some sort of crap all-seasons on them, and I just got in in the middle of a weird snow/sleet storm. Blegh.

My G's in the shop for at least a week though.

Women always use that whole excuse of how statistics show they're safer drivers.

Too bad I'm pretty sure the percentage of male drivers is greater than females (I'm guessing at least 10%), which skews that statistic IMO.

Though I do acknowledge there are great women drivers out there, I know a few myself

Hahaha. At least you're getting greate mileage.

Sorry to hear about the bad luck. How bad was the damage that it made the wheel bent at a 45 degree angle?

Again, I am sorry to hear about your car getting damaged. Didn't mean to start women vs. men driver thing. For some reason that just jumped out me yesterday morning. Hope everything turns out okay and the car gets fixed asap.

Sorry - the wheel itself isn't bent. I just meant that the wheel was out at a 45 degree angle while the other one was straight. I think a snapped tie rod? I think the body damage is going to be the worst part of it. I should have an estimate Monday. Christ.
