Why We Can't Have Nice Things II
So it's been over a month now, and my car is still in the shop.
They have the body panels, but the suspension kit is still missing. I worked in a dealership (albeit, for heavy equipment) for several years, and for a mass produced part that's not discontinued or part of a recall to be on order for that long is ridiculous.
Yesterday morning I got the part number, made two phone calls, and it turns out that there are TWO of these parts sitting on a shelf at an Infiniti dealership in New York. I called the body shop (the dealership is providing them with the parts) and gave them the new part number (it's been refiled, so the part number they had was expired) and the direct line and number of the parts manager in New York who could ship this out to them. I said that if that was too difficult, I could arrange the shipping and customs myself and walk it out to them.
About half an hour later, the local parts manager was on the phone telling me that they are unable to order parts from the States because their system doesn't allow them to, and that my part *might* be in on Monday.
Sorry, but that's f***ed up. You're a dealer, and you don't have access to parts and whole goods inventories at other dealerships? I'm a girl who knows ****-all about cars, has no access to your computer system, and I found it in ten minutes and could have it shipped overnight.
At any rate, I called Infiniti's customer service line to lodge a complaint, as I don't put in 12 hour days to drive a base model Corolla.
