i beg to differ. i have a 6mt and it does not look anything like the auto you posted. the op's pic is of a 6mt, so i'm willing to bet that the stacks are different for auto and 6mt.

Hi folks. That's how it is on all MT. Here is my console. There is nothing behind it. In fact that's not even a bezel. It's one piece with the ash tray trim.

 

I'm pretty sure all 6MTs look like that. Atleast mine does. It's kinda funny no one noticed the difference b/t the ATs and 6MTs till 6 months later, lol.

Yehh I misinterpreted the question from the OP. I thought he was wondering why that console looked like that, seeing as I had an AT I obviously thought something was up..


Are you looking to put something in that area, another head unit? Unless your car does not have a 6-disc Cd changer I don't know how crowded the area will be in there. Better to check with a dealer or take it apart.

 

That is the spot for the 1TB hard drive that can be added to the system. There is a sata and power connector plus mounting bracket. You guys haven't put the 1TB drive in there yet to upgrade the the space on your musicbox? I have 1TB plus 9gigs.

yup mine looks like all the other 6MTs as well..

 

i have the same piece on my 6MT and i tried to tug on it a little bit lol, but im guessing its there since auto trans has a diff. cupholder and shift selector and middle compartment so on the 6mt i feel like they put that there to cover up a space it had to compensate for.

 

That would have been so sweet if it was true.

 

There is a bit of room behind the plastic brace that goes across there, but not much.

 

lol how the f did you get that off...man u guys dissect the car like its a dead cat in anatomy class...

anyhow interesting that we noticed the center stack difference btwn 6mt and 5at now. mine is the same way as well as in the OP photo....I drive 6mt.
