even if its illegal...it prob depends on how dark..if its more subtle and the brake lights still shine pretty red at night i guess ud be fine....then again we have like no car laws in Michigan and I hear Cali is pretty strict so dont take my word for it.

I live in Cali as well...San fernando valley in specific and there is a taililght law which is that you may tint the lights as long as during the day your red break lights can be seen from 300 feet away

I'm from the valley too bro! So this law is for the valley or just CA in general?

ca/ pc 24600(e) Taillamps shall be red in color and shall be plainly visible from all distances within 500 feet to the rear except that taillamps on vehicles manufactured after January 1, 1969, shall be plainly visible from all distances within 1,000 feet to the rear.

I'm sure they will ding you on the 1,000 ft with overlays or tints at night, which is a justifyed reason for the law to stop you during the day time. We do live in Ca, although there is a high chance you may not get stopped, you are just giving them a reason to "***k" with you. I'm sure CHP will be more likely to inforce it over a city cop.

Basically u have to have some hint of red in your tail lights and not go all blacked out on your taillights..GTR's should be fine though
