What gives???

Ok, so i have been really feeling the G37 lately (my Cayenne has been getting 9 mpg) and therefore been looking around here more and more and WHAT THE HECK! Is it me, or is the aftermarket really lagging in the G37? Or is it the G37 owners that are slacking in modding their cars???

Stock the G37 is cool....but in order for me to pull the trigger (see my other thread LMAO) id have to really see a lineup of sick parts for me to add to the car.....and so far i am not seeing anything.

I see two dudes (sorry if im missing others) that have modded G37s...and both are sponsored/shop cars. WTF?

When the G35 came out people were going NUTs on them right outta the gate. By the time i had my 04 it was BONKERS on those cars.

Am i missing something or do i need to look elsewhere for a car to mod?

DOMO

I feel the same way but you gotta figure that the car has been out for less than a year.

How is your Cayenne in terms of a throttle response?
My boss was thinking of getting Merc ML63 or Cayenne Turbo S, after test driving both, he said it lacks in throttle response. He went for the Merc.

If your looking to go all mod-crazy, why don't you just pick up an '06 Coupe? It's going to be some time before there are pages full of mods for the G37 (Plenums, Bodykit, Clutches/Flywheels, etc.. etc..). I'd say by June there will be a TT kit or an SC kit available but most likely going to be 6-10 months before it really starts to pick up. Also keep in the mind the car is relatively new so there are not a lot of them out there yet and there's no point spending money deveolping products that won't be flying out the door like crazy.

you have to realise too that the G37 is unique in that it is the only car that has the VQ37HR...why would an aftermarket company spend so much time on a single platform when they can earn more money on more popular and widley used engines/platforms.

I agree that the only reason the g35 had so much options was bc of the 350z. While the japanese market will have plenty for the g37, will the american companies and shops follow suit?

You are an astute observer. lowering springs and a couple exhausts that sound worse than stock are about it so far.

Car has only been out for 6 months....when you got your 04 G35, the car was out at least a year if not more.

I actually got my FIRST G35 in January of 04.....so less than a year....and it was the first G35x in PA at the time. I modded it right away and would have kept going on it if it wasnt for that Ivory Pearl coupe on the parking lot one night

I got the Coupe in September of 2004...so yea, they had been out for a minute but still, there was TONS of stuff for the car at that time.

While i do know that the 350Z had a lot to do with driving the aftermarket of the G37, i was expecting more - maybe thats my problem - i guess i set my expectations too high for the aftermarket and the G37. Wishing thinking perhaps.......

Yeh patience buddy there will be plenty of mods down the road. The 350Z and the G35C came out relatively at the same time compared to August '07 for the G37 and who knows 2010 for the 370Z. Not going to be a lot of companies producing mods for a while.

I think the real question here is how much horsepower can we expect from the turbos if you paint the car with "Turbo" stickers, once installed.

Why before labor fees, you going to install and tune it yourself? You're looking at $10Gs buddy for the kit and labor not to mention some additional engine mods you should purchase to keep things running smoothly for the long run, probably around 450HP 345TQ with 8psi boost. S/C is about half the price with 70% power of TT.
