Cold weather performance

Well the temperature here is -44C (thats -47.2F for you Americans) with the wind chill; it's rare but it happens (welcome to "The Great White North" :-))

Has anyone noticed anything in regards to cold weather performance/driving?

My G is actually performing great! No problems starting (yes, I have a block heater) and no noticable 'creaks' or 'groans' when driving.

Maybe more power because cold=more dense air=more power.

yup, there is a noticeable difference when it's cold outside versus summertime weather.

Yep, took my G out in the cold and felt a better acceleration then usual. Which is why I think warm air intake are useless. The OEM intake is better at grabbing colder air since they are enclosed.

The cold is not a problem its the $^*& snow. Chicago is getting hit with snow and 40mph winds and this car almost killed me. I thought I could tough out the rest of the winter without tires but that was one of the scariest experiences of my life. I could not keep the car straight and did 2 complete 360s. The only reason there was no accident was a lack of other drivers on the road. I should get a medal for making that drive!

Revvin cold weather starts not a problem with block heater. It was -50 C in leduc last night with the windchill. They don't plow my street though so i have not got a chance to drive it.

Sub -40's this week (-43 today) before factoring in any wind chill. Car sits outside not plugged in all day and starts ok. Clutch takes about 50lbs of force to push in though. Takes a good 15 minutes before it's warm enough that I would move it. Blizzaks take a few blocks of slow driving before they become round again.

Brrrrrrr.

Kind of a kindred soul-

I just got done doing my neighbors driveway, the mailboxes, and the foot of snow in my driveway that fell last night along with a temperature of -10F/25 mph steady winds gusting to 60 mph.

Chill factor of -45F to -50F below zero

Brutal-

My fingers have just become usable-

We also get about 250"-300" of snow here, every year.

Engines love cold weather.

What does -50 feel like? Well bare flesh will freeze in 2 minutes, and you know that "brain freeze" feeling you get when chugging a slurpee? well just by breathing through your mouth you get that feeling. The air is so cold it has the same effect of causing your nerves in the top of your mouth to register pain.

All the people who are driving this car without winter tires in snow, it's not the car that is going to kill you, it's yourself for somehow thinking driving in the WINTER with SUMMER tires is ok with proper tires this thing is just fine in the snow as most of us G37 owners living north of 60 will tell you.
